Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?

i was talking to my dad last night and i told him that there is no "organization" that jehovah uses directly.

he quoted this scripture and said "well then who is this talking about" i read the scripture and i have to say i am a bit puzzled.

if it doesn't say what the jw's say (not that i'm saying they are it) then what does this scripture refer to?

The spirit who is a slave, not a son, and yet remains faithful to his master. A slave of course does not remain in the house forever i.e. within us, our 'temple', a spirit of slavery does not endure eternally in the house (the Lord spoke of perservering).

On returning He and His Father make Their home with this person - their spirits are renewed - they are adopted sons and they know in their renewed spirit that they will never leave His house.
They did not know this of the spirit they had before in that same way - they were a slave, perservering.
No matter how faithful the slave, the privelige of sonship is not earnt by a slave - the work of a slave does not exact debt - only by a gift do they become a son.

Those who are not doing as He has instructed (love) are removed from the source of light and placed in the dark like the hypocrits, a place (condition) where people are known to gnash their teeth (in envy). You would notice how some hate good things happening to others.

The jovies will tell you how "a slave doesn't remain" means other bad people who are evil and left (escaped from) us.
It's a teaching story, not an historical who's who.

Well, that's one way of finding life in it - show your dad that.

how about all abuse victims get together and sue the wt for a billion dollars of reparation (in this country certainly a reasonable amount!

...similar to how lungcancer patients sued the tabacco industry.

I've been wondering whether all ex-jws could put together a petition to inhibit the entrance of dubs into peoples homes, state by state - on the basis that the religion does not reveal pertinent information to those who are being coerced, and it is often only much later that it is discovered just how offensive the whole thing is - often after families have been seriously affected.

It shouldn't be allowed in unsuspecting people's homes, particularly as they pass themselves of as tolerant Christians when the truth is that they deny that Christ is God (the commonly known sense of being Christian) and they are simply waiting for eveyone else to be killed.

Start small - can those people in that small town that won't let them in be helped by a well crafted request/objection and the numbers on this board to assist?

Who knows something about this sort of thing?

Could WTS learn from the FBI?

as many of you know, coleen rowley, fbi counsel in its minneapolis office, wrote a scathing 13 page memo to her boss, fbi director robert mueller, exposing many flaws in the agency's handling of intelligence which may have contributed to its failure to see the terrorist attack of 9-11 coming.. rowley will not be disciplined in any way, as promised by mueller.

she has been commended for her courage in coming forward with important information that could lead to changes within the fbi.. do you think that there's another organization that could learn a lesson here?.

been inactive for about a year now, have quite a lot of anger that needs attention!

wondering if it would be a good idea to write down my grievances and put in a letter of disassociation, or simply fade and deal with my anger another way?

Welcome bay64,
I feel strange welcoming someone as I feel like a guest myself. I haven't been a JW, but I know about the anger. My family were nastily dumped on (still are daily) by what turned out to be conspicuously arrogant people - you guessed it, the dubs - I had previously thought they were just an odd type of Christians.

Even so, I wouldn't have known about the forest if I only stayed in the tree that they attacked.

Losing my religion

But I must say that there's a jovy word that you used that literally grates on my soul - "fine". I've heard this word used before and it must be a jw thing, pride, and it takes away the sense.
"Hold fast to what is good". The word fine has it's common roots with finish, final - ended and it's an obvious jwism that I strain to bear with.

There's a few words that they have applied that affect me such as "ransom sacrifice" - it sounds as though it's God who's being paid - it's a shocka.

i have pasted the relevant part about molestors here.. i'm suprised by the over-all dumbing-down of the offenses and particularly astonished by expressions such as "struggle to avoid repeating his sin" while it admits that "experience has shown that such an adult may well molest other children".. http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1997/1/1/article_01.htm.

page 108 and 109 of the pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock (elders manual), contains the following instructions:.

just noticed the comments from "sis" on www.purelanguage.net regarding dateline...... "satan wants us to have doubts and he uses this type of propaganda to sew the seeds.

to find comfort i would suggest going to the offical site and viewing the videos and reading what "mother" has to say".. so we are fooled by the propoganda ?

I'd like to be able to say one of the spiritual groups of the RCC, but it seems that in the west there's no 'sexual guarantee'.

There are great groups all over the place though - in our parish we've got many group activities that people can get really immersed in, like taking families to visit prisoners, advocating for refugees, clothing shops/food etc. - serious spirituality and theology: we have prayers from Islam, buddhist teachings, eastern spiritual teachings - no sex problems, I think they're onto that sort of stuff: you need a priest / pastor or whatever who doesn't get pushed around at all, for the right reasons.

Then again, depending on where you go, you might not agree with much of the doctrine, but the beauty is you don't have to, you only need to agree with the basics.

I hope you find a tradition worthy of your gift.

A hardening of the CCoJW

perhaps one affect the dateline program will have is to filter some of the "weaker", leaving behind more of the "hardened".. perhaps this will result in more of the good people leaving and the society becoming an even more closed and controlling environment.. .

I can see that hypothesis. Hardening up and killing off the 'weak'.

I imagine there'll be an attempt to exert more control, but not a lot is going to work - as the older ones die off and the women of the generations of the seventies and later become the average, there'll be less tolerance for all that kind of crap.
