any questions about hellfire are welcome.
the only response i got from crazydrinker was, "youre a dumbass".
rofl .
What do you think it is?
bang
i think the title is self-explanatory for the most part, but to clarify: i'm not talking about jw dogma.
i mean, why do so many, even ex-jw, settle on dogma?
why use one "holy book" to define your spirituality?
People are "seeking the kingdom of heaven", nirvana, the deep truth, and as Jesus said "it's in the midst of you" - not in the "inner rooms" or somewhere else ("He's over here, time is at hand") - the kingdom of heaven, the knowledge of truth, may be found in how you behave (be and have) with creation and those who are around you - a given thing.
Dogma can be used, very handy, to keep people nearer to the kingdom. Or dogma can be used not to enter, but to put people to work, and sell to those who generally prefer to buy, pay their way "righteously" - albeit that it's a different kingdom - an imaginary one. The kingdom of heaven isn't bought and sold, but an imaginary one can be sold and bought - a nothing that can be made and sold - to those who believe enough in the integrity of the sellers to buy (and without Him was nothing made that was made) - a false promise and an idol.
With dogma you can tend a flock and keep them near, or, with different emphasis (different hearing) you can even have your buyers and sellers using the same language for a different purpose.
It's a very beautiful thing how the kingdom is hidden, right in our midst.

a couple of years ago i got into an conversation with a pioneer about bible translations, i said that the nwt is an american translation (i didn't think this was such a controversial statement!
) and she jumped down my throat about it!
i said "but it's called the new world translation, and "new world" is what europeans used to call north america" and she said "no, it's the new-world translation - because it's for jehovah's witnesses and we will get through to the new system" and while i was trying to reason with her she also said it was a "new world-translation, it's a new translation for all the world".. has anybody else met somebody who thought this?
I don't think it matters - it's not really the bible.

one of the most striking things about this and similar message boards concerning jehovah's witnesses is the strength of feeling jw-related discussions evoke.
as i dabble in sociology, i was wondering what you all thought about the following questions.
my objective is not to criticize persons belonging to other group but rather to attempt to grasp the dynamics of the conflicts at work here.. the questions:.
Mutual respect is not really possible - as for me I have set my face against them.
And the reasons are simple - they systematically tell lies and stink up other peoples lives - and then lie about even doing it - and then lie and then lie - and then some divine threats and then lie and then lie.

life's complexity defies demand for a designer

life is complicated, and explaining it is more complicated still or so it would seem.
Considering that early computer owners/users were also dubs, I might even be convinced by that simplicity argument.

Psycho-analysing the situation -
I'M GOD'S GIFT TO WOMEN - I'd like beautiful people to like me
QUESTIONS ON LOVE - I want to be loved
A FORUM DEVOTED TO ME - I'd really love to be liked
I would deduce that Fred simply doesn't know where God has got to - I suppose that's why your checking it out with the org Fred, but as we all know, you won't find Him there either.

our pal yk chats incessantly about our lost faith and how evil that makes us.. well, i didn't lose my faith until it became clear how many lies i had been told.
lie upon lie upon lie upon lie.
lies about prophecy, lies about doctrine, lies about how the society was administrated.
Once you've heard the truth, the rest is only cheap whiskey
bang
isn't this just a pitiful way of saying, 'i can't deal with my anger'....'just be passive and be quiet and don't have any expectations'....'life is just too difficult; count me out'....'i can't have any impact anyway so why should i even try?
'....and of just sitting somewhere on the very outside and just daydreaming of how god, or maybe even spiderman, is just going to come along one day and then, then really, "i'll show you!
"
Yeah I know, it's pretty sad. I keep wondering that there's a rightful reason that they're bound up like that, because generally, when people overcome their fears in the name of righteousness - they open their eyes and leave straightaway.
Maybe many are doing as God has asked - being meek - the children in 'lawful' custody anyway

my bestfriend adonoyechod wrote an excellent message titled humor and sarcasm.
it is true, we must remember the purpose why we are on these message board.
it is not to just to win the argument but to win the lost for christ.
The jw baptism for paradise (not) offer
1) Agree to think and say what we say about God
2) Make your house clean and swept
3) Welcome the rest of us in
4) You must do work for us "Go yourselves, get your straw wherever you can find it"
