I am already where I want to live. However, I went ahead and took the quiz and the #1 location it came up with is Ketchikan(sp?), Alaska. After that one was Seward, AK and some towns in rural MI as well as some place in Idaho. I guess that reflects me...just a small town girl.

The pain has kicked in
by Pistoff inhi all and thanks for being here and caring.
i have had a bad day today.
most of you have heard me rant and rave about my thirty years in the borg, not yet over.

((((((((Pistoff))))))))
I am so sorry that you are going through tremendous emotional agony. We all have differing experiences leaving the JW religion/cult but one thread that runs through all of our stories is pain. It is so horrible how this organization damages people.
I just wanted you to know that I read your post and I care. I am, at this moment, giving you a great big cyberhug.

P.S. I always enjoy reading your posts on blondie's Comments You Won't Hear... threads.

Were You Ever A Bible Student???
by minimus indid you consider yourself a real student of the bible, one who regularly read the scriptures, with a view to helping others learn the "truth" of god's word?

Yes, I truly believed that I was a student of the Bible and I had a sincere desire to help others. Later, I realized I was not truly a student of the Bible; rather, a student of WTBTS doctrines.

Disctrict conventions and hot days
by JH inas far as i can remember, the district convention was always the last week of june or first week of july in my region.
in either case it was always very hot out, and where we gathered for the convention it was always very hot there also.
this year would have been no exception since it was in the upper 80's and lower 90's since a few days here.. i can remember a couple of times when the temperature inside the olympic stadium in montreal was about 90f.

The only one I remember attending that was EXTREMELY hot was when I was 4 years old. 1978 in St.Louis, Missouri held at Busch Stadium. It was sweltering and I can remember begging my parents to take me out of the sun.

When Prophecy Fails - Part 2
by refiners fire inconcluding festingers observations of prophetic disappointment with a flying saucer cult in 1956.
the major period of expectation spanned 4 days, from 17th december when the faithful expected to be airlifted from the back garden to safety by flying saucers thru 21st december when the city and surrounding countryside would be inundated with floodwaters with total devastation the result.
the saucers were predicted to arrive at 4pm on the 17th..nothing happened:

Wow! That is bizarrely similar to the WTS tactics when their prophecies have failed to come true. That was actually kind of creepy for me to read but I thank you for sharing it with us, Refiner's Fire.

Apologies for any hurt feelings
by Simon ini know i probably go too far sometimes and can get a little 'determined' on some issues (my wife calls it pig headed & stubborn).
sometimes i am too blunt.
sometimes i won't let things go and want to prove my point.

Simon and Angharad,
Thank you, once again, for providing this forum. I appreciate your hard work and sacrifices made in order to keep up this site. I have enjoyed my time spent reading & chatting here.
I missed much of this political debating, since I was away from here for a few months. I generally refrain from joining in on those discussions here, anyway.
You are doing a fine job here. Thanks so much.

We did it -- we're married now!!
by Gopher injune 20th marked a new beginning for me and yourschelbie.. we had a justice-of-the-peace wedding, with just a few family and friends on hand.
the judge did a marvelous job of capturing the essence of the meaning of marriage in just a few minutes.
(and we weren't reminded that serving a publishing company should be the #1 priority in life, lol.).

my hours have slowly been cut back over the last few months to the point where i've had to decide between food and bills.
however, my sister's friend brought me a job ad.

Are You Happy That You Are The Color Or Nationality That You Are?
by minimus indo you wish that you were of a different race or heritage than you are ?
-
Banshee
Yes, I am happy with my color, nationality and heritage. I was fortunate to have access to a lot of family history from both maternal and paternal family. It is great to know about my ancestry and I am proud of my family heritage. I accept and like who I am today and that includes my color and nationality.
