by hotchocolate inmy first post was a few days ago now, and finally my heart has stopped pounding whenever i log on.. :-).
so, i have been in the truth all my life, 3rd generation witness, never left, never been in trouble, pioneered for years, and am a respected member of my congregation.

It's hard to trust your own instincts, when you have been taught all your life to trust someone elses.

Was there any benefit to being an Israelite?
by jwfacts induring the time of the israelites, non-israelites with no connection to the nation could have a relationship with jehovah; for example, job.. there also appears no lasting benefit to being an israelite, as all people will receive a resurrection.. the watchtower uses the israelites as evidence that jehovah needs an earthly organization.
however, the only real purpose of the israelite nation that i can see was it led to christ.
is the nation of isreal really an indication jehovah requires an earthly organization?.

There also appears no lasting benefit to being an Israelite, as all people will receive a resurrection..
Seems unfair, but then again maybe the 144,000 are chosen from the 12 tribes of Israel like the bible says.

No benefit after Christ. No benefit in world war II. History remembers them as killing Jesus!

This was something my father-in law (now deceased) always would bring up, he was disfellowshipped and I was still a dub.
He would say "until I see their bodies disappear I don't believe they went to heaven".
1918 huh, 90 years in heaven preparing to rule, what's that all about ?

Samson was the first suicide bomber . . .
by Locutus of Borg inthis is an epiphany i had about 5 years ago that forever changed my attutude towards the bible, the god of the old testament (and new testament) and all religion in general.
esp since the borg hold him up as a hero of faithfulness and one of the great faithful men of old.
it was quite a jolt to my worldview when that realization hit me like a frikkin bus.. thoughts?.
