...in all fiction:jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevent bully.", says Richard Dawkins in The God Delusion p51. He goes on to say, "Those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror".

    Would you agree?

    I completely agree. Nicely put.

Spot the difference between Hitler and Jehovah? One had a moustache and a comb over.

I would say he was right in line with the other ancient middle eastern gods. He's just more famous now because the Hebrew-Christian book (now called The Holy Bible) catapaulted into the realm of best-seller due to the conquests by Christian nations in the early centuries A.D.

In the New Testament, however, the God of the Bible presents a much friendlier face in the Jesus character. (Kind of a bad cop - good cop approach, maybe? Bad cop = God of Old Testament, Good cop = God of NT.)

If they are the same character, this guy went into major rehab!!! I mean big time prozac soloft etc etc etc... more like a lobotomy if you understand what I'm saying...

This issue in itself should be more than proof that the book is just that.. a book that reflects the humans that wrote it...

At this age and time it is unbelievable that people still look up at the ideas of nomadic primitive people as the infallible word of 'god'...

The real deal is not what you believe... is WHY you believe it... I mean if you want to dance naked around a cowpie and light candles and chant... youre entitled to it... but dont go around condemming the people who dont do as you do...

again people should ask themselves Why do I believe this or that.. what evidence... etc etc... If after doing that research you still want to dance naked around the cowpie... go ahead!!

Could it be because He was dealing with people who were - and still are - jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freaks; vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleansers; misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bullies" ???

Yes, When someone escapes the frying pan of the tower and jumps into the flames of being a bible thumping christian, I can tell their still brain dead zombies walking around who never developed the ability to understand what they read and think critically.

I think one truth in the scriptures is unless you are as a little child, you will never find the kingdumb of God.

You have to have an infants thought process and reasoning ability to believe in the God they promote in the bible

It took me 22 years out of the tower, reading the bible 5 times cover to cover taking notes, then pondering my notes to start to wake up and realize that the god of the bible is a monster. I so wanted him to be real, to give reason and stability to my life. I suspect that is a reason others believe and are in denial regarding Dawkins summation.

I'm pretty sure if he were real the God of the old testament, who Christians argue is Jesus and the God of the new testament would send us all to hell on rollerskates in a heartbeat.

I hate to agree with this but after reading the OT that is the opinion I come up with.

Serving a god like this would be impossible, A god like this seemed to be hooked on sacrifice and wasn't pleased unless there was a dead body - preferably yours.
