DA Question

my sister in-law daed back around 1981, she was told by the elders at the time that if she daed she wouldn't be shunned by the family for doing this.

i think right when she daed though was the same time wt was changing their thinking on daing and disfellowshipping making them equal for shunning.. my question is,.

is there a wt publication of something that you can pin down a date for the shift in policy?

I think if I could show something like this to the rest of her family they might accept her back in the family. My wifes side of the family aren't really hardcore JW,s (mine is) and I think if I could prove to them that when she DAed this wasn't the policy (shunning) kind of like a grandfather clause situation. It would be great to get her back in the family,she has been hurt by her side of the family for a long time.

Prediction of large drop in JW numbers in 2014

i am going to make the prediction, here and now in mid 2006, that there will be a significant drop in the number of jehovah's witnesses in the year 2014, the one hundredth anniversary of 1914.. the only way this drop in numbers might be avoided is if the watchtower society can think up some way to stir up the rank and file and get them motivated to do more, like they did with the 1975 fiasco.. .

i doubt very much that the watchtower magazine is going to proclaim loudly in the year 2014 anything about the "generation of 1914" not passing away.. --vm44

The large increase with the Latinos could be a double edge sword.

The large increase with latinos is because of the close family relationship latinos have.

Maybe the large decrease will be for the same reason.

many on here say they are being shunned by their family members.in some case this is probably true.

but seriously..could it be that they have a life and they may not have time for you anyway?

or finds you not too much fun to be around?.

I am also saying they are NOT the only religion that does this. They all have little clicks where you may feel shunned and yet it isn't always so official like in the JW religion.

DUH!!!!!!!!!

You believe it's our fault and something is wrong with us thats why they don't accept us what you don't realize is they don't give a rats ass about us or you they're just following rules.

It doesn't matter how nice or how smooth or how careful we are in speach they had their minds made up before the first word came out of our mouth.

My JW friend just read Crisis of Conscience!!

i have recently been in fairly regular contact with a long - time jw friend who, despite my da status, decided to put our 25 - year long friendship before the shunning doctrine.

she has visited me, discreetly of course, several times, and has read on jwd and other sites when she has been here.

she recently watched some of the child abuse videos on silentlambs, and all she has seen has caused her to doubt the truth of the wts, after 45 years as a baptised jw, with many of those years spent regular pioneering.. it was the local dc a couple of weeks ago, and she only went for half a day, and missed the rest of the sessions, and she hasn't been attending all of the meetings lately either.

God works all things together for good, who knows what he has in store for you (or me)

I really believe this, I have to believe this.

The "Revelation" Book...did you HATE that thing as much as I did??

ok the first time i thought it was pretty cool how they applied every little scripture to themselves.

i sat rapt with my young children while we discussed wonderful things to come.

the second time i was like...where's my old book with all the notes in the margins, im not looking all this sh-t up again!.

God had a channel for communicating Revelation in John's day, and John was the earthly part of that channel. Likewise,God has a channel for giving spiritual nourishment to his 'slaves' today.

The reason for publishing this book is the need to keep up-to-date with present truth.Jehovah is continually shedding greater light on the meaning of his Word, and we can expect that our understanding of Revelation, along with other prophecies, will be sharpened as we draw closer to the great tribulation.

Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and who observes the things written in it; for the appointed time is near.

i (obviously) live in america and i'm a big fan of beer.

Yuengling Lager is local favorite oldest brewery in USA brewed locally.

Cancer and blood transfusions

does anyone have any factual information as to whether or not blood is ever given to a cancer patient?

i know this is a very generalized question without specifics, however, it's the only starting point i have.

Good thing you got over JW,s before you got cancer. Hope your doing better.

My brother in-law had cancer. The hospital wanted to store some of his blood so that when he had chemo-therapy he could use it.Transfusions are done to strengthen you after the chemo, the chemo wipes you out. A big part of the reason for transfusions is the white blood cells which boost your immune system.

My brother in-law was ready to sacrifice himself to the WTBS, fortunately he recovered

though he probably made it harder on himself.
