"I've decided to block your e-mail" (response from an almost-JW)
by AlmostAtheist inthere was a poster on jwd that left her email address in a post.
she was clearly a study, not yet baptized.
she was on jwd, so it sounded like she might be open to a maybe-they-don't-have-the-truth sort of discussion.. i emailed her my birthday write up with a note explaining that i didn't think the watchtower "lied" (as was mentioned in the jwd post she was responding to), but that they made disengenuous comments in order to keep people in the organization, sincerely believing that it was necessary for them to please god.. she responded, thanked me for the note, and said that she had stumbled onto jwd by accident, looking for an online copy of the km.

Earthquake in the Middle East (Urgent)
by EliJah in19 and the great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell; and babylon the great was remembered in the sight of god, to give her the cup of the wine of the anger of his wrath.
20 also, every island fled, and mountains were not found.
21 and a great hail with every stone about the weight of a talent descended out of heaven upon the men, and the men blasphemed god due to the plague of hail, because the plague of it was unusually great.. meaning: the nations are of the twelve tribes of israel in the middle east.

p.s. noah's flood is cultural myth based on ancient mesopotamian legends, there is NO proof of this ever taking place.
Kid-A - Ballard and his National Geo research indicates that there may actually have been a major flood during "Noahs time". The evidence is in the Black Sea. However, it was still a localized event.

Earthquakes in one place after another
by free2beme ini realize that in the 1990's, the witnesses changed their view on this thought of "earthquakes in one place after another" to be more figurative and not literal.
yet most active witnesses still see them as signs of the end.
i did when i was younger and something occurred to me today as i watched the news from pakistan.. did anyone ever have witnesses that expanded beyond the warning of this natural disaster (earthquakes) to include all natural disasters?

100 years ago we didn't have the instant communications we have today. 100 years ago we might have heard about the tsunami in indonesia but it would have been weeks and we would not have cared like we do today.
The earth as a living planet, is in constant flux, as we know today. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic action, landslides, floods, hurricanes, even global warming and cooling, are all natural phenomena associated with our live planet. That humans have contributed in the last 100 years to global warming significantly does not discount it as a natural phenomena, our existance as a life-form on the plant alone alters it. Just as the explosion of Krakatoa contibuted to global cooling for years.
An old "friend" of the family tried talking to me of these events yesterday as I was trying to track down his ex-wife, who was a friend of mine (I think she's been df'd). I simply told him that I didn't buy it, that all we are seeing are natural earth cycles.
