What is the most money you have spent on one item?
by Crumpet intoday i bought the most expensive thing i have ever bought.
i bought a laptop computer for just under 500 - about $1000 i guess.
it was on 12 months interest free credit so technically its not mine.

Jourles, to me vacations are a necessity! But Kevan and I have VW taste. We love to go to Mexico or Hawaii or... but not bother with the high end stuff. Gimme a rooftop room in a house on a small bay in a small village in Mexico for $25 a night and I'm happy! So what if I have to drink bottled water.

Solo or joint?
Joint it would be the house Ex#3 and I bought. $11,000 down incl closing costs. Total sale price $111,000
Solo would be the $22,000 I paid back to Kevan for his support and owsies over 4 years while I was working on getting SSD.
Next, it would be my pickup: $3400 down
Worst was $2,500 for a dry hole in the ground... drilling for water on property ex#1 and I owned. 250 feet of gravel and basalt.... no water.
Someone elses money? The house Kevan bought in Hawaii. Down and closing was taken out of home equity line of credit on his condo.

((( Vitty )))
If you had a separate apartment that elder parent(s) could live in, it would't be quite so intrusive nor frustrating for both parties. Unfortunately that is a luxury that most cannot afford.
Kevan's parents are moving into a senior assisted living residence this coming spring. They took in and supported her mother, and his parents in their last days. The swore they wouldn't do that to their kids. Sadly they are only in their late 70's. Helen has alzeheimers and is in need of the structure of the home. Dick is fully there and functional and I know is going to hate it. They are keeping the farm for a while until a friend is ready to buy it and move down.
Tough sad stuff.

Hi Nate and welcome!
I'm an agnostic. I believe there is a top-god-entity, but this god is not worthy of nor desirus of our adulation and worship.
I believe in Christ and Buddha, but I consider myself neither Christian nor Buddhist.
I believe in other sub-dieties like the Masters Kwan Yin, Dwal Kuhl, etc., including Hawaiian Dieties (I owe Mdm Pele an obeysance).
I am very spiritual in my actions and opinions and beliefs.

"It is finished"; Now What is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Now What? injust thought that i would hop on real quick to share the news.
my fade was going very well, but i decided to end the charade.
i started feeling deceptive, letting them think i was still a good dub when i didn't believe anymore, so i decided to initiate a meeting with the elders.

Instead I had a feeling of overwhelming peace.
The aftermath of a spiritual insight or revelation that you worked to achieve. Good goin'
Now you can go forward with your life.

Pat Robertson tells town, "Don't expect God to help you"
by sir82 inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9995578/
i thought evangelism was supposed to make god more appealing to people?
the irony is, most jws will point accusing fingers at this representative of babylon the grape, but not realize that their own message preached every saturday morning is essentially the same: "worship god our way, or don't come crying to us when armageddon comes"

I heard part of the speech on the news last night. The guy is nutz! That, wanting the US to assasinate the Venezuelan Prez, etc., etc. And there are those who believe and follow! They're as nutz as he is.
Sad.

Have we just given up
by Frogleg inif i speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, i am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
if i have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if i have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, i am nothing.
if i give all i possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, i gain nothing.. love is patient, love is kind.

Reverend Drummond wrote a sermon, later published in a book called "The Greatest Thing In The World" that breaks down that passage on Love in Corinthians. It's beautiful. It's complexly simple. It's something I think everyone should read, religious, bible believer, athiest, everyone.
Love is. It is greater than the sum of it's parts.
