Why not, they did in Jesus time, they ministerd to him and the apostls, servants in the congregation do not teach, they hand out mag and books and do book keeping.

Will Women Eventually Start Being Used As Servants?
by White Dove inas the men in the congregations suffer from burnout and quit helping out as ms and elders, do you think the situation of shrinkage will become so desperate that the wts will be forced to start using women in positions of authority?
they have a huge commodity that they are refusing to use.
that makes no sense at all.

If the light keeps getting brighter, did early christians have it wrong?
by digderidoo inwe are all familiar with the light getting brighter.
new 'truths' replacing old 'truths'.. but what i have been thinking about recently, albeit 12 years too late, is that if that light has been getting brighter over the years, surely centruries ago the early christians got it wrong!!!
well they did if we follow that line of thinking.

Confusing... but this set me straight
by possibilities ini'm new to this site... just looking for confirmations of thoughts i've been having during my investigation of this organization.
i'm attending meetings while studying and thought this forum might provide some insight.
it surely does.

You have to understand the knowledge base here, many of the people here have seen and experienced the changes of thoughts and ideas the organization has evolved from, it used to be a finite, black and white senerio, but as the increased pressures of being a true Christian in a modern world made the organization look fanatical it had to move to grey areas and put the weight of desiding what are Christina acts on the individual, making it a matter of conscience and not law. The organization has caved into the ruler of this world to conform and not stand out.
So many here can make assumptions, and correctly so, as to what the motivation behind statments made in the letter really mean or imply.
There are many here that have had their faith ripped away from them by the changes in dates, policies, and doctrinal changes. The truth is the truth and does not change, old truths can not change if they are the truth and become new truths.
The generation you are dealing with have long forgotten the efffects of changes in the past and that the percentage of the 6 million that are new, ten years or less is so high, they have no real history with the organization. My grandfather road the train with the judge, thats history.
So as you read take into consideraton that some of us are bloody casualties of the WT and do not candy coat the truth.
Welcome and keep an open mind, take what you can use and leave the rest till another time of growth.

Did it not come from the GB? You have friends there, your FIL doesnt make the meetings, Jehovah found a source to feed him, what if it had been a bird with the letter would it be apostate? Whats the big deal anyway, those changes have nothing to do with truth.

If a JW girl falls pregnant to a 'worldly person'...before marriage??
by Lantana ini've had many encounters with jw's throughout the years and i've found them to be decent, caring people.
i've attending meetings, read a number of awake!
and watchtower publications and so on and so forth.. the book 'crisis of conscious' by ray franz was really eye-opening for me and served as a strong warning for those about to enter the organisation...its easy to fill in the blanks from there -- i never became a jw.

Depends on WHO she is, if she is the daughter of a elder, she probably gets off, in the US if the guy is over 18 pursue statutory rape, taking the blame off her, every congrgation and every circumstance is different and could be dealt with defernently, that God there is only one judge.

What big changes made by the Borg bothered you when you were in?
by LovesDubs ini came in in 1984. at that time they were beating it into us not to have kids or go to college because the end was soooo near and the generation that saw 1918 was about all dead and we couldnt go much further.
they were touting the whole peace and security cry and then there was the peace and security convention in like 1985 that had us all abuzz after which of course nothing happened.
then they went and changed the definition of the generation in 1994 saying of course since armageddon didnt come after the 80 years had gone by that defined the old one that they basically had to go to plan b...or plan m by now, and that the generation was now everybody since 1918 who has or will live during the time of the end ad infinitum!!!

Old School...1935,, close of the anointed being selected, 1967, rotating elder arrangement, 1975 I'm still here and so is Satans world, did he beat the WT society? Looking at the lost love of beloved brothers and sisters who had thier lives torn apart by this cult bothers me most.

What I want to know is how is the borg going to monitor what you study? Are they coming out with an outline to keep the sheep from devouring ole light, how are they going to control minds with out structured, overseen meetings? Sounds like an apostate had a hand in this arrangement, trying to free minds for a lillte Bible expolration, a dangerous thing for the WT.

What was your saddest day as a JW?
by jambon1 ini had many days like this but i will never forget the time that a 'prominent elder' publicaly declared that he wants to see the worldly people die at armaggeddon.
"i hope that i can look out the window & watch it all happening".
i went home and thought; 'wtf am i a part of here'?
