100mph winds
by LittleToe inthat'll teach me to eat beans on toast, yesterday!!!.
the wind is really picking up and the town is clearing as everyone is getting sent home from work.. we're expecting 100mph gusts here, on the west coast of scotland.. i'm gonna go home and get cosy, with a roaring coal fire.
it's just as well our houses are built for severe weather!.

Df'd but don't really know why.I suppose it was living under the same roof as my (now) husband, although they had no proof that I was doing anything else. I had changed congregations and countries.Never attended my JH, then got a phone call from an elder who announced that I had been "put out" of the congregation (being French, I don't think he knew the correct word in English). Now shunned by just about all my remaining JW family.

LittleToe's Travels - Dec 2004
by LittleToe insorry if i'm boring you once more, but it seemed like a good way to finish off the year.... so i'm sitting here listening to "wilderness of mirrors" by fish, wracking my brains to recount the events of the last two weeks.. it started by knocking off early to catch a flight to glasgow, on the 17th.
i normally catch a boat and drive down, but i managed to get a flight that was cheaper, so i went for the comfort instead.
mistake number one was forgetting to print off a map for the carhire place, though.

All Secret Santa Paricipants sign in here please!
by Gadget inthe details of who to send a gift to will be getting pm'd to you all either friday afternoon or saturday morning!
according to the information i've found online the last posting day for standard parcels is dec 11th for usa and december 15th for the uk/europe, so you should all have plenty of time to select and send a gift, although sending sooner rather than later is prefered.
can everyone taking part post on this thread what things they like, what their interests are etc so that the person who is buying a gift for you has some idea what to get you.

Why is it that a JW can't say Happy New Year?
by kls innew-years eve my husband and i went to my sister's house to bring in the new-year.
my sister knowing much about jws cornered my husband and said " happy new-year don" and he replied" yep it's a 2005".
i have been away from the bs of jwism for a long time and for the life of me i can not remember why it is wrong to celebrate a new year.

While phoning my aunt on New Year's Day to exchang greetings, I was surprised to find out that my mother (JW) had called her a few hours earlier and as first greeting had said "Happy New Year" to her. I think I wasn't as surprised as my aunt though, who lost her sister to this cult about 40 years ago.

Being brought up in Britain, I love marmite. I could never convert my husband to it though. He's French and more of the Nutella type. People here in France go through pots of the stuff as breakfast food and children enjoy it as an after school snack.

Welcome sista. Please don't let the term 'apostate' get to you. It's just another of the JWs specific items of vocabulary.I'm glad that you were able to get proper care for your son...thanks for sharing your story.
It's good to hear that you and your hsband are fading as a couple - at least you'll have each other and I think it's a really smart move to be changing location. I found that was one of the best things I ever did as far as leaving the JWs was concerned.
Be strong.

How does the society explain 5 more partakers at the Memorial?

The post about the true and genuine annointed ones are quite confusing. How can it be that these people were mistaken about their calling? I thought they received their calling from the Holy Spirit. If this is so, how could it have been mistaken?
Just my two cents.
