i love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".
from "Love and death" (W. Allen):
Soldier: Oh, God is testing us.
Boris: If He's gonna test us, why doesn't He give us a written?
--
Boris: Sonja, are you scared of dying?
Sonja: Scared is the wrong word. I'm frightened of it.
Boris: That's an interesting distinction.
--
Boris: Nothingness... non-existence... black emptiness...
Sonja: What did you say?
Boris: Oh, I was just planning my future.
--
[last lines]
Boris: The question is have I learned anything about life. Only that human being are divided into mind and body. The mind embraces all the nobler aspirations, like poetry and philosophy, but the body has all the fun. The important thing, I think, is not to be bitter... if it turns out that there IS a God, I don't think that He's evil. I think that the worst you can say about Him is that basically He's an underachiever. After all, there are worse things in life than death. If you've ever spent an evening with an insurance salesman, you know what I'm talking about. The key is, to not think of death as an end, but as more of a very effective way to cut down on your expenses. Regarding love, heh, what can you say? It's not the quantity of your sexual relations that counts. It's the quality. On the other hand if the quantity drops below once every eight months, I would definitely look into. Well, that's about it for me folks. Goodbye.

i'm off to barcelona in a month's time and wondered if any of you have been and could recommend hotels, restaurants, areas to visit etc?
Been there last September.
For nice food I would suggest a little place at the Bouqueria (the market on the Ramblas). It's called PAPITU.
Patronised mainly by locals, it has open-air tables and it offers a vast array of "tapas" (local snacks) and traditional food. I especially enjoyed the wonderful super-fresh fried "calamari" (squids?) they go get straight from the nearby market.
The market itself is a must-see, very pictoresque. Even inside the market there are little places where you can eat like you can see in the pic.
It's a bit crowded but a nice experience anyway. And the food is cheaper and more "real" than in sophisticated restaurants. Have fun!

i can't help it... i love the freakin' place!.
i know it's insanely expensive, has long lines and possibly, no, actually is quite obnoxious.
i don't care.
from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starbucks
"Starbucks' success in the U.S. market has often, though not always, been replicated around the world. Starbucks now has outlets in 30 additional countries. It has faced competition in markets which are already saturated with coffee products. As of 2006, none are located in Italy."
Ever wondered why Starbucks can't conquer Italy, the epicenter of European coffee culture?
If you had the chance to taste THE REAL THING, you know why.

the song of solomon is being covered in the kh highlights this week.
last night, the brother doing this talk went into detail about how this has a greater fulfillment, in that it applies to christ and the loyalty of his bride class, the anointed.
surely this is just a love story between solomon and the girl?
It points to the relationship between Christ and his bride?
Yeah, right. Then what about all the sexual-erotic double entendres? See:

i found this very interesting paper.
it's a phd thesis at the old testament science department of the pretoria university, titled "does yahweh exist?
a philosophical-critical reconstruction of the case against realism in old testament theology".. it offers a devils advocate's case against realism in old testament theology, in the form of the following seven arguments against the existence of yahweh:.
Sorry I posted it twice.

I found this very interesting paper. It's a PhD thesis at the Old Testament Science Department of the Pretoria University, titled "Does Yahweh exist? A philosophical-critical reconstruction of the case against realism in Old Testament Theology".
It offers a devil’s advocate's case against realism in Old Testament theology, in the form of the following seven arguments against the existence of Yahweh:
1. the argument from theological pluralism
2. the argument from unorthodox theology
3. the argument from polymorphic projection
4. the argument from mythology and syncretism
5. the argument from fictitious cosmography
6. the argument from fictitious history
7. the argument from meta-textual history.

I'm surprised none of you smells a troll here.
Guess it's because Amanda's post exactly mirrors the reaction to the tract you wish and welcome.
I tend to believe that most people won't bother reading the tract and even those who will, won't take the time to research and/or post their opinions (on the wrong place, for that matter, but incidentally on a forum where her thoughts would be commended and agreed upon).
I'm afraid Amanda might be making fun of you (no replies so far, I wonder why).
