The church fathers all beleived in a type of trinity, eg Origen beleived in a three tired trinity it didnt become clear until it was thrashed at the ecumical councils. Arius a priest from Egypt lived at the beginning of the fourth centry didnt beleive in the trinity he beleived the same as the present day witnesses and the witnesses and others who dont beleive the trinity are called Arians because the teaching originated with Arius.

I MAY HAVE HIT BOTTOM
by BONEZZ ini thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
she told me today at lunch.
i almost threw up.

Dear Bonnezz, You should be able to go to the elders and talk to them and have the problem fixed and they should talk to youre daughter regardless of youre standing with the JWs. Dont feel bad there the ones with the problems not you .

JanH is right 'Present' Truth is an old Adventist term in fact I have in front of me a magazine called Present Truth by a dissident Adventist Robert D Brinsmead. A brinsmead lady gave it to me quite a few years ago. It should be remembered that Brinsmead changed his beleifs from traditional Adventist to evangelical Adventist to liberal adventist to Lutherine to non beleiver as he is today.

Why dont JW's have a youth group?
by In_between_days insomething that has been alarming to my jw family is the amount of teens ("young ones") that have bailed out of the organisation, never to return.. they use the excuse, as would most jw's that "satan is getting them - he knows young ones are vulnerable.".
if you want my opinion, young people are getting far more educated - they are becoming far more broad minded than they were say 10 or 20 years ago.
because of the slow yet sturdy slackening of the "no college" rule, many more young jw's are attending university or college than ever before, and with further education comes more knowledge, more interaction with reasonable and intelligent conversations with educated people and most importantly -use of the internet ("satans latest tool, as put by a jw i talked to recently).

I was brought up an Adventist and they have a youth group called Pathfinders, and go on weekend trips and camps also because of my interest in gliding I once held a week long course to learn to fly where 5 out of 7 went solo in the week. The minister who organized the week wanted to strart a Church gliding club and the Church even supplied a pilot that flew the tug plane. The Baptists also have programs for there youth and as a young person Many times I went with my Baptist friends to their programs.

I thought it would be cool to be a JW kid because when I went to school the JW kids didnt have to go to scripture on wednesday mornings and could do anything they wanted to thats all I knew about them then.

The Demon of Saskatchewan
by RunningMan inlast week, i came across an unusual tidbit of jw folklore that i had all but forgotten.
after a brief discussion of provincial politics with my mother, she made the comment (regarding our provincial premier) that every time a government is elected, satan appoints a demon to oversee and direct it.. now, i'm not sure if this is unique to jws, but the idea is based on the following scripture:.
"but the prince of the kingdom of persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for i had been left there with the kings of persia.
