In the Adventist Church people who leave are sometimes called Backsliders the same term the Baptists use. The only place I have ever seen the word apostate used is in the annual figures on church members deaths apostacies etc. I have never seen the word used in the same negative way as is used by the WT Society. SDAs use the word Heritic more often but mainly in a joking sort of way. Barry

I beleive it would be hard for a leader in the WT Org to establish himself because all the WT writers are anonamous and and it would be like an excellent writer in the real world trying to make a name for himself by writeing a book and not only getting a best seller but getting people to follow his idears.
The WT has been very cleaver in not allowing their writers develope a reputation.

How do the Kigdom Melodies compare to Christendom's Songs?
by Honesty ini just have to comment about the canned wtbts music on cd the local congregations play on $150 cd players through $20 speakers set in the foamboard ceilings at their sales meetings worship services.
what a joke the music is that they use to sing praises.
the lyrics remind me of a high school pep rally with all the emphasis on 'we're joe hoba's witnesses and yada-yada-yah preaching from door to door and from house to house' or 'life everlasting in the pair-o-dice' crap that just tickles the dubbies ears so much they get all pretty and pink.

Onward Christian Soldiers was my favorite as a kid but with 400 hymns and responsive readings in the hymnbook it took a while to get sung again. Barry

Gday newlight2,
I checked out that site and chances it is an SDA concervative site as one name there caught my eye, Kenneth Cox was banned from preaching in SDA churches at one stage because he was saying Christ would come in the year 2000 or before and he was useing some JW theorys to do it. Similar to how the JWs said 6000 years would end in 1975 he was saying the same about the year 2000. These groups in the SDAs would comprise about 40% of the membership.
Stay away from that type of religion it is legalistic and perfectionistic look for a group with the gospel. Barry

Gday newlight2,
I havent heard of that group you mentioned many SDA groups have their own meetings but are still part of the SDA church. If you were an SDA youre next minister could be a conservative from Amazing Facts or even a liberal you wouldnt know unless you had a disscussion with him or it came out in his sermons.
Shawn,
If you wanted to talk with this person I could tell you how to deal with them. As I said before I dont agree with much they say. Barry

Im an SDA and I know about Amazing Facts. Amazing Facts in SDA land is run by conservative SDAs they are part of the SDA church but they have different doctrine than the official SDA church. The Amazing Fact people have their own meetings separate from the churches meetings. One very strong doctrine they have is they beleive Jesus had a sinfull human nature and this one doctrine flaviours their whole theology that flys in the face of the protestant doctrine of 'righteousness by faith'.
These conservatives have cultic idears such as they beleive they are the only true ones and everyone else is mistaken. For the most part they would shy away from going to other denominations for services.
They are sometimes called CBs [Concerned bretherine] or Adventist catholics because of their theology. Yes they do have cultic traits. I cant reccommend them at all. Barry

The SDAs have there roots in the Millerite movement and the Second Adventists were Adventists which made dates such as 1875 for the second comming. SDAs made no further dates after 1844 for the second comming.
I come here to be with all my fellow cousins. Barry

Gday Brian,
Im an SDA and I live in Australia. The trinity is a big subject with the Witnesses but this arguement started a long time ago. In about the third century there were different views concerning the trinity and one view came from a priest named Arius who first said the Son is in no way God and the holy spirit is Gods active force. Hence the witnesses are called Arians because of there beleif.
The SDA beleif in the trinity is exactly the same as Catholics and most protestant denominations. The doctrin as we now have it was developed from the ecumenical councils starting from first council at Nicaea.
A book I would strongly reccommend Is called 'Christian thought ' by Tony Lane. I have a copy of it but cant put my hands on it right now.
The witnesses will say the doctrine of the trinity is pagan but by useing their same logic all christian doctrin could be argued is pagan.
I have also found very few witnesses know what the doctrine of the trinity is and what we beleive and they often neglect the doctrine of the incarnation.
Maybe you could go to the Kingdom Hall in the course of youre research Ive been there and tehy are quite friendly people and no dought would make clear there point of view. They have WT study which is like the lesson study that we have. During this study only those that are picked and given the mic can comment. You just cant have youre say like in the SDAs. They then have the public talk which is like our sermon.
Good luck with youre project and God Bless Barry
