according to this program, which i am watching right now, the 7th-day adventists number only around a million in the u.s.a., yet they have built multiple hospitals, clinics, and health programs with a holistic leaning.... from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/seventh-day_adventist_church.
health and diet.
since the 1860s when the church began, wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the adventist church.

well, i went along to the memorial with mrs cedars.
it was my first since my "awakening" just less than a year ago.
apparently i made a lot of people happy by being there (even if it was only building up false hopes), the most important of which were my family.
Gday Poppers, The use of the word Emblem is not only used by the JW religion. The Seventh day Adventists also use that term. They also use the term Communion and the Eucharist. They aren't very fussy about the term. It is held every three months and footwashing proceeds communion.

i went to a local catholic church on good friday with a catholic friend.
i observed that there was a lot of rituals involved.
i am interested to know why you choose this religion.
gay nice dream,
My wife and I and our two kids have been going to an evangelical Anglican church.
I am a SDA and my wife is a roman catholic .
We will probably join that church it's just down the street from where we live. The two priests are great guys and keen bible students. At church they just where casual clothes not even a tie. Ritualistic the church would be no different than the kingdom hall.
If you want to take communion just ask someone in charge as the rules vary in different Anglican churches. They do take up a collection during the last song and its up to you if you want to donate.
Anglican churches can be very different from Anglo Catholic to Evangelical

What you don't have white sauce. It comes in a packet like everything else these days. on th eback it says" A blend of Mccormick's finest herbs with a creamy white sauce, Parsley White Sauce is perfect with chicken and fish, or drizzled over your favourite steamed vegetables

i'm surprised at how much is in the watchtower lately and at assemblies warning of apostates.
is it my imagination or is this ramping up a lot lately.
i am a born-in and stopped attending only a few years ago (now in my 40's) but don't remember so much anti-apostate warning as we see now.. the watchtower seems extra obsessed with apostates and the need to warn about them lately.
I must explain. Imagine that guy dressed that way if he were to walk into a kingdom hall dressed like that and get up to give the public talk. Some SDAs would react the same way. Barry

Gday Steve,
In the SDAs apostates can be easily identified. See the pagan maltese crosses and flowing robes and he is preaching in an SDA church. At least this would be the opinion of some SDAs also see the comment underneath.

We are haveing corned beef tonight for tea and we allways have white sauce with it. How much do you pay per kilo for corned beef in other parts of the world?
In Australia we pay about $6.00 a kilo or about $2.50 per pound.

Someone mentioned the 7th day Adventists.
Growing up as an Adventist I can remember the church haveing problems with apostates. There was what was callled the 'awakening message' lead by Robert Brinsmead who had been disfellowshiped but his followers still went to church splitting many churches in half. I can remember the ordinary church folk would sit on one side of the church the brinsmeads as we called them would sit on the other. Brinsmead and his followers were perfectionists and accused the church of herecy.
Today there are still apostate groups one I have just been reading about is in England Australia and the states. They don't beleive in the holy Trinity and are accusing the church of being apostate because originally the SDAs were Arian just like the JWs. They refer to the doctrine of the trinity as the Omega herecy. These people are causing the church great concern as they gather disciples around them but the church is reluctent to act against them because of money.

after i left the jw's about 5 years ago i decided to visit a few other churches out of curiosity.
i visited some big contemporary style churches, you know, the ones with bands and loads of young people.
i wasn't surprised to see so much emphasis on jesus of course but what struck me was the almost total absence of any emphasis or praise given to the father.
I beleive the Holy Spirit is the forgotten member of the godhead. How often are prayers directed to the Holy Spirit? and remember he is another comforter our lord promised to send and was sent at penticost.

Gday Josie, Corned beef in a can was rations for th eAussie soldiers in ww2 and was called "Bully Beef" and they hated it. I like the stuff either in a can or fresh. The fresh corned beef has to come from a good supplier because if it is cooked for three hours and still not tender it's rubbish. A crock pot is the way to go.
