  Challenge for JW's - how do you arrive at 1919 using the Bible alone?

  jw apologists or anyone, convince us why you are sure that jesus appointed the watchtower society in 1919 using the bible alone.

  Why are the 7 prophetic years counted out to 2520 literal years and at the same time the 3 and a half years simply left literal. The SDA church does the reverse counting the 7 years as literal years and they convert the 3.5 years to 1260days -1260 years.

  Such is the problem with the year day principle no one uses it consistently. When Jesus said he would be killed and in three days it will be rebuilt did he mean three years?

  The texts in numbers and ezekiel don't teach any year day principle. Please read it again if you aren't sure. It doesn't say when interpreting prophetic prophecy substitute a year for a day. Barry

  i have seen on this site recordings of jw elders at tribunal meetings claim other churches hate the name jehovah.

  one former baptist now jw elder said other churches hate the name and never use it.

  please look at the following and there are many more hymns not included than these.

  Thanks Nevernew for those wonderful videos. Doesn't mime come from that french bloke? The two videos entitled 'For every mountain' are amazing. The reason the WT wouldn't accept them is because its not exclusively from their cult. Most churches have music from other churches we go to an Anglican church and many of the hymns are the same as from other churches.

  Jgnet thanks for responding with Jehovah Jireh ive never heard that before.

  The negro people do have a real sincerety and expression not found in other races. They are so talented.

  I must mention the songs I picked were ones with Jehovah in their title many others have the name Jehovah in the body of the lyrics.

  i'm no longer a sda but still have an interest on how they are progressing many are wonderful people in serving the lord.. i have been following ryan bell at hollywood adventist church and how he has connected with the community their also there may be lessons that witnesses can use to effect change in their situations.

  ryan has been very innovative in connecting with the community he has introduced ash wednesday into the church which is unusual for an adventists church somthing ive never experianced.

  he has had muslim imams from the local mosque take a number of sermons at his church.

  Ryan has been very innovative in connecting with the community he has introduced Ash wednesday into the church which is unusual for an Adventists church somthing Ive never experianced. He has had Muslim imams from the local mosque take a number of sermons at his church. These may have made the conference a little edgy. Ryan has been actively involved with social justice and other community issues.

  The incidents which led to Ryans sacking came when he accepted Gay couples into fellowship. he also was one of the first churches to film ' Seventh Gay Adventists ' a movie about two adventist couples who are SDA and one lesbian couple. Ryan was sacked by the conference not the church.

  So if anyone is interested just look at the video it may have some helpful idears in dealing with the WT problems. If th evideo is a bit long for some just look at the second half.

  1852 charles taze russell was born in(february 16) in pittsburgh, pennsylvania.

  he was raised in a strict presbyterian home.. 1868 (age 16) in an encounter with a non-believer he became disillusioned over the subject of whether god as a heavenly father would burn his children in hell.

  side note: 1869 (joseph franklin rutherford was born and raised a baptist).

  Adventists do in fact beleive in a burning hell. The burning hell ends some time in the future and fits in with idea of annilation when the wicked are completely destroyed. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

  i am posting it because it may help honest jws consider how far their beliefs are at odds with new testament christians.

  Great job Cofty because when I was confronted by the witnesses about the trinity I had the same feelings in regard without argueing the point the witness doctrine just didn't gel.

  There are Adventists that are Arian just as the witnesses are but they do have a more trinitarian touch in their theology. They pray to Jesus praise him and worship him but they beleive he was created at some time in the begining and they don't beleive in the personality of the Holy Gost. They have similar problems to the witnesses in that they worship Jesus, another God, if you like. They also resist the Trinity because they say it is a Catholic heresy. The Arian Adventists also claim the SDA church is an apostate church because of the Trinity doctrine.

  The Adventist church accepts pluralism and says in spite of our differences we can all worship together. Barry

  even as an elder, i had doubts as to this being "the one true religion".

  i personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates.

  fortunately, i left years ago.

  Christians have been looking for Jesus return for a long time. The problem is that some christians put their lives on hold as a result of his comming and this is a missrepresentation of the second comming

  Unemployment is down, but why did America set a record 47.8 million on food stamps?

  in the usa a new record was set on food stamp enrollments, which seems ironic.

  you would think as unemployment drops , food stamp usage would be dropping, too.

  maybe those government unemployment numbers are fake numbers.

  I just looked it up a single person in Australia that is unemployed is entitled to $492.60 a fortnight as well as $121.00 a fortnight rent assistance . Australia is one of the few countries in the world where a person can stay on welfare indefinitely

  We don't have that here in Australia. When a person is unemployed they just get a cheque or money transfered to their bank account so they can buy whatever they want. I think the current rate for an unemployed person is about $250 per week or about $260 American. Of course for a couple it would be double that and a couple with children would be even more . Unemployed here have to look for work or the benefit will be reduced or they can do training for new skills . Barry
