by wordlywife injust wondering, my jw husband attended a funeral at a catholic church with me, and i thought perhaps this was frowned upon?

My husband's comment on the hurricane looters.
by wordlywife inall he said as we watched a little of it last night, is "and that's in the heart of the 'bible belt' of america".......... to me it was a put down of the south, and completely devoid of any understanding.
all i said was: "these people down there have nothing to begin with".
as in another thread, i cannot believe my eyes when i see these thugs are terrorizing hosptials, rescue efforts, etc.

More than beads and boobs
by wanderlustguy innew orleans
funny i keep seeing so many references to the beads and the boobs, i guess i never realized how much about new orleans people dont consider.
there is so much culture there the normal person is in awe at just the surface.

Is this swearing, to a JW?
by wordlywife insaying "jesus" or "judas priest", as when watching a football game and a call or play is bad?
my jw husband does this frequently.. .
would this be considered swearing by the average witness?.

Which one of you was picketing Toledo convention this weekend? :)
by wordlywife ini didn't see the person, but my husband told me about it.
glad this weekend is over, i can't believe people want to go to these things and enjoy them.
it was torture for me, but then i'm worldly.

My wife is thinking of quitting the "truth"!
by Goldminer in.
last night my wife said she was thinking about quitting the truth.she says she finds it too hard with me having doubts and not wanting to be a jw anymore.she has also been burned by her few jw friends, and the rest are either disfellowshipped or getting divorced.it's really hard to build lasting relationships with such people in the religion.. another positive factor is that she has made 2 good "worldly" friends over the past year.i think she's starting to see that people on the outside can be nice, have morals and accept others as they are.. i hope in time she starts feeling good about this decision and that i can slowly show her the many errors of the wts.so far she agrees with many of the things i've told her but still believes it's the truth.it's a hard battle but i never tought i'd hear her say those words.. btw,she finally called a local elder to see if he can help me with my many questions.he's coming over tonight so it should be quite interesting.i think he'll be a little surprised at some of the direct questions i have;i'm also hoping that after a while he decides there's not much hope for me and just labels me an apostate and starts talking about df'ing me.that would show my wife their attitude towards answering questions that have no scriptural answers.. anyways,i'll do my best to keep you all up-dated.it can be hard to post as my wife diesn't know i come here on a regular basis.. goldminer

Wouldnt you just love to............
by ButtLight ingo to a different congregation, where no one knew you, and do something crazy?
like stand up and yell "praise the lord"!
or go to the memorial, and drink the whole glass of wine and burp really loud?
