My husband senses how much I stiffen when he tells me how he will have to treat her if this goes through. I sense a big discussion coming on, and I feel like blasting this stupid shunning business! Arg!!! I'm so mad!

why is it considered that a person's bad/poor actions bring reproach upon god?
i don't understand this one bit when i hear my husband talk about it.
my stepdaughter is most likely going to be df'd soon (for being a typical teeneager as far as my worldly views).
She has already told an elder what the offense was and when, and told him to "do what he has to do." She has told me (in confidence) that she doesn't know who she is or what she wants, and wants to at least take a break from the religion. So at least this time there is no idle gossip, she has told them herself.
I'm trying to support her without stepping on my husband's beliefs or his ex-wife's, as they are both Witnesses and raised their children as such from birth.
And now, her older sibling is thinking of applying for temporary work at Bethel, since recently returning from a trip there. Now even more guilt for the younger sibling, who is sure to be disfellowshipped.
All I can do is tell her I love her and assure her that things will be okay, as long as she doesn't go nuts and do unsafe things.

I just hate all the guilt guilt guilt........poor kid. I am hard pressed to find any teeneager that doesn't go through this phase. And now this impending df-ing to help add to her self esteem. Eegads.

Why is it considered that a person's bad/poor actions bring reproach upon God? I don't understand this one bit when I hear my husband talk about it. My stepdaughter is most likely going to be df'd soon (for being a typical teeneager as far as my worldly views). Didn't God create us (if you believe this way) and give us free will? As far as I'm concerned if I make mistakes or behave badly the only person I'm bringing reproach on would be me.
What gives with this?

as you all know, jws avoid celebrating all major holidays because they are "worldly" and "worldly" things displease jehovah.
however, i remember some jws talking about celebrating certain kids' high school graduations.
so it's not okay to celebrate christmas, thanksgiving, easter, birthdays, etc, but it is okay to celebrate someone's graduation?

Sheesh-
My step-daughter's High School graduation party may have out done any party a wordly person would have had. A reserved park, two grills going, huge cake, decorations, etc., basket for money and pile of gifts.....I still can't understand how this is any different than singling someone out for a birthday. This seems far worse to me than having a few people for a family dinner for a birthday!
But then again I am worldly............
