a quick look at an example of how christian apologetics ignores and even undermines the scriptures upon which christianity is purported to be based.

the new testament plainly and unqualifiedly says--in the voice of jesus, no less--that god the father has unique knowledge vis-a-vis precisely when jesus will return, that this knowledge is available to no one else.

"the father alone" knows; no one else knows (mt 24:36, cf mk 13:32).

The Word came to earth and lowered himself to "a little below the angels". Hebrews 2:7

After his resurrection his was exalted.

Philippians 2:9-11 – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the father.

Jw's make this mistake over and over again.

A related mistake that JW's make... the disciples got things wrong until the Holy Spirit came.

The WTS points to mistakes that the disciples made to show that it's alright for them (the GB) to make mistakes.

But all of those mistakes were before the Spirit came to them.

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Study WT July 15th 2011

is there a source for a .pdf of this?

i downloaded the august issue from jw.org, and i have the previous issues.

i just don't want to show that much interest locally by asking for the july one.. (edit) just for reference, not because i want to study it, but so i know what people are talking about when they refer to statements in recent editions.. though of course i might be better off without any of it, just walking away....back to the sane world.....

Countdown to 2014

to the governing body of jehovah's witnesses..... the 100th anniversary of jesus' taking the throne is 40 months away.

this means you have less than 40 months to dazzle us with your verbal gymnastics and explain why armaggeddon hasn't started yet.

we realize that freddy is no longer with us, so before releasing any "new light tm" regarding 1914, please endeavor to be a lot more creative and make an effort not to insult our intelligence... (we now have more ways to call you out on your bs, so you'll need to really put your heads together on this).

Sorry to steal your thread but the WTS taught that 1874 was the date of Christ's presence until 1930.

The time of the Lord’s second presence dates from 1874...

The Scriptures show that the second presence (of the Lord) was due in 1874... This proof shows that the Lord has been present since 1874...

(WT March 1, 1923 p. 67)

Surely there is not the slightest room for doubt that in the mind of a truly consecrated child of God that the Lord Jesus Christ is present and has been since 1874.

(WT January 1, 1924 p. 5)

The second coming of the Lord therefore began in 1874...

(Creation 1927 pp. 289, 291, 297, 298, 318)

The Scriptural proof is that the second presence of the Lord Jesus Christ began in 1874 A.D.

(Prophecy 1929 p. 65)

So they are coming up on 140 years.....

BTW the whole organization is a insult to intelligence from the start.

the injustice once they leave, but it,s not about the doctrine.

Do the Harold Campings of the world make witnesses question their own beliefs?

now that harold camping has been proven wrong again, er, the rapture is taking place at another date because he is an imperfect man, one question that comes to my mind is whether this kind of fiascos ever make active jehovah's witness connect the dots and realize they have been deceived as well.. also, i wonder if active witnesses ever get to think that if unbelievers were right about not believing camping, maybe they are also right about something else?

perhaps relying on reason is not that misguided after all?.

i would love to see your opinions on this.. .

I joked with one JW friend about Harold Camping and then said "It kind of reminds me of 1914", she said "don't start".

I'm not even sure she knows that 1914 was originally to be the END not the "invisible presence" that it is (wrongly) thought of today.

And what is most interesting about what Jesus said;

He call them Sheep. This was probably years before the Gospel was taken to the Gentiles.

He did not call them goats that he would turn into sheep. he called them sheep.

Romans 8:29-30

29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

I believe that the bible teaches that there is only one salvation. Salvation for those chosen by God.

Romans 9:13-18

13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” [ e ]

14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” [ f ]

16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” [ g ] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

I meant any choosing (in the WTS way of thinking) would have happened in 1877-78.

I don't believe in any of this dispensationalism.

I'm an amillennialist and believe we are in the so called "millennial" as of 70AD.

But I don't let that stand in the way of my salvation.

Ones belief conserning the end times has nothing, whatsoever, to do with one's salvation unless it gets in the way of ones belief in the gospel.

The WTS and JW's do let their beliefs concerning the end times get in the way.

That's sad.

But the WTS did not believe this when they were supposedly chosen by Christ in 1919.

The whole question comes down to whether or not one believes that Christ chose the Bible Students as the FDS in 1919.

To that there is no proof.

The fact is, in 1919 the WTS was still teaching that Christ's presents started in 1874 and any choosing would have happened in 1877-78.

One does not need to turn to the bible to prove that the WTS teachings are wrong.

Just looking at the teachings themselves and all the flip-flops is enough to prove that the WTS does not have the truth.

The "truth" that the WTS taught yesterday is no longer taught.

The "truth" that the WTS teaches today will not be taught tomarrow.

From the inside that may have looked like "fiddling" but from the outside it looked like a complete abandonment of major doctrine
