  I can't believe I am doing this again

  i am canning today.

  i got rid of all my jars, my pressure cooker and other canning paraphernalia years ago.

  it seemed so silly to can anything for dave, myself, and our one remaining child at home.

  I LOVE canning! I can spaghetti sauce every year and this year got 30 jars of it, it tastes so much better than store bought due to less processing and so fresh. I do jams too, peach jam and raspberry are my family's favorite. I do lots of different things but I must say, every year, my salsa is by far the best thing I do. It is full of things like zuchinni, carrots, peppers, tomatoes (of course), etc. My kids can't get enough of it and it is super easy, grate everything with the food processer, throw it in the pot to boil and then can.

  hi, i?m a catholic and i?ve been dating a girl that is jw for two years.

  why do the jw have to marry a person from there own religion.

  i think that it is very wrong.

  If a sexual relationship exists between the two of you, she is as good as disfellowshipped, and she knows that. She is not allowed to have sex before marriage.

  Maybe she wants out, come on ppl, you know that just because you go to meetings 3x a week does not mean you want to be there. We have all done that. She IS doing anti-JW things, dating a nonJW, and ENTERING a CHURCH!! A major forbidden practice. Why is she doing all of this? Maybe she wants out and this guy is her ticket out. Hopefully she loves him as well.

  I think that it is she whom you need to talk to about all of this. You were concerned enough to come here and ask some very people who have been very hurt and lost tremendous amounts due to this cult. So tell her all of your concerns, open it up and see what she says, I love the idea of telling her that you have been asking us questions. See how open she is then. What you will get here, is true life stories, we don't need to exaggerate, waterdown, coverup or maintain some kind of front like the JW are known for. You have come to the right place.   Opps, hit enter,

  Anyway, the pumpkin seeds are easy. We just take them all out as we are emptying the pumpkin innerds, wash them in water, put on a tray, douse with salt and into the oven to bake.

  Revelation Book

  what does everybody think of the revelation book it is the red one,i am breezing thru it at the moment i can't believe how deep it is and thier explanation for each scripture.

  My nonJW husband loves to read, so took the Revelation book out of my dusty bookcase one day and read it. All I heard from him for a few days was tsk's, HUH, Wha? Fist pounding and some other negative words. At the end of it, he said that it was the society stuffing their beliefs into someone's drug induced dream. With enough twisting and fantasy, those words of revelation can be interpreted to mean virtually ANYTHING.

  He really thinks that John was smoking or popping something that made him hallucinate. It could be.

  Yes, I remember an old cranky brother. Miserable to his wife and his kids. BUT he was goin' to heaven. Us kids use to crack up during the memorial because HE gave the talk and was always in the middle of trying to swallow that dry bread. You could hear his smacking and crunching into the mike, then he would step back off the platform for some wine because he couldn't get it down. All of us kids were getting smacked by our parents bec we broke the silence! So much fun.

  Perfectly stated Ozzie!!!! Funny but it takes a long time to realize and accept that, it is only through this forum, and time, that I am realizing what I can do to reclaim many personal freedoms that I never realized I had.

  I have a new resolve. It is not I who is bound by borg rules any longer, so why do I not speak to ppl I have known my whole life. I live in a small town and regularly see JW old friends. I have decided to start to say HI rather than buy into the whole thing and "they ignore me so I will ignore them." I find that often df'ed ones still follow the rules of df'ing by not talking or saying hi to JW's. Hell, LET them ignore you. THEY will be uncomfortable. Honestly, it is very fun and it alieviates some of the feeling of isolation and shows them who is really acting like a Christian, puts responsibility on their shoulders AND hopefully helps them see how silly it is to ignore me. I won't HELP them anymore in their efforts to forget I exist. I WON"T act guilty anymore!!!!!!!!!!! Real examples I have done: I will do more as well.

  Saw older lady from cong so said, "Hi...(name)! You are looking well, glad to see it!" She smiled at me and I took my leave smiling.

  Passed teenager on field, no one else around, I said, "Hi there (name)" He ignored me. I said under my breath, "How rude" and kept walking.

  Saw old best friend at garage sale...I said, "Hi (name)! Boy your kids are growing!" She smiled and said, "So are yours." I took my leave.

  JWs and voting. Is it okay now?

  i know there has been lots of discussion on this issue in the past year but i have been unable to find it.

  i need to know where to find the questions from readers that talked about it being okay for people to vote if their concience allows.

  i brought this issue up with a couple of people, one a rank and file dub and the other an elder.

  I am 35 years old and for the first time this federal election.......I VOTED. Felt so good to USE my rights.

  How the society words things like this reminds me of how I taught my children to think for themselves. In pychcology it is a process that takes external talk from parents (leading, correcting, encouraging, disipling), becomes the child talking themselves through things and then goes into our 'inner voice, or inner talking to ourselves.' JW have taken a childlike tactic of molding and used it on adults, never allowing the final step to happen. Adults are reduced to children. They are lead lead lead, but never graduate to the final step. Most children follow this process: (millions of examples but here is one)

  1 Mom: "Johnny, what do we do when we have dirty sock? We take them off and where do we put them? Right! In the basket."

  2: Johnny outloud to himself, "My sock is dirty, I will go to the basket with them"

  3: Johnny now only thinks the above internally, making decisions internally.

  This process is essential to independence in children, problem solving skills and yup, you guessed it...critical thinking skill. All things that JW do not want their ppl to have...are we sure that the borg is not full of pychology Phd's using ppl as the world's best experiement?? The wording in their articles, like this one on voting, staggers me. It is only through education that I and I am sure YOU all now can decifer what the hell they are doing to us. Oh wait,,,,,again....education is not encouraged, is it....don't want them wise to what we are doing to them, do we.

  Crying at the movies

  i have a hard time expressing my emotions in front of others.

  i mean, i'd rather be naked than to let anyone see me cry.

  however, there are a few movies that can, in spite of my best efforts, make me bust out crying like a little girl: .

  I totally bawl at LORENZO'S OIL. The commitment and love shown by these parents to their ill son earns them an honorary doctorate degree AND they cure hundreds more kids like their son. At the end of the movie, they show all these boys playing, sliding, running that would have been severely physically handicapped, unable to do one thing for themselves, BUT they can. That end bit, just aches.
