TRYING TO DECIPHER THE TRUE MEANING OF STATEMENTS MADE 2000 APROX YEARS AGO FROM TRIBAL GROUPS WHOSE LIVES AND THOUGHT PROCESSES, LANGUAGES, SLANG REFERENCES, BELIEFS CARRIED OVER FROM PAGAN RIGHTS ETC. WILL NEVER GIVE US FULL UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS SAID IN THE BIBLE.

Hard to get over: No New System
by confusedjw ini have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.
to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.
i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.

Gdt: Are you counting time for these kinds of posts?
Jesus, that very day, was to die, and be in 'sheol, hades' or the common grave of mankind, dead. It was not til 3 days that he was resurrected, so Jesus and the evildoer alike were to die, Jesus to be resurrected three days later, the evildoer much later when the new system was in fact set up by God with Jesus the Judge, and it truly can be said that anyone then resurrected to life would 'be with Jesus' even though Jesus as the King would not have to be a human back on this restored earth. Hardly paradise for either of them that day though.
The bible does not say the evildoer was going to be resurrected much later than Jesus. SEEEE...it all boils down to one thing: Interpretation. You can twist, add, takeaway, slant the bible anyway you think is right, it still does not make it 'the truth.' I have said it before and I will say it again, "There is no truth, only ppl's perception of truth."
I still say, What ever happens will happen. In the meantime, I will do my best to not be guilty by association with an organization that goes against every sensible/loving fibre in my body. The evil that they have done/do ie:preying on ppls fear of death by creating a web of false hopes, outweighs everything for me and I am jumping with joy that my vision is no longer clouded by THEIR interpretation.

Who wants to do a letter writing campaign to the borg?
by Jez inreading the amazing information about what a cult is, got me thinking....there are thousands of ppl here, why don't we do a letter writing campaign to the society, bombarding them with letters outlining things like the cult attachment to jw's, disfellowshipping, 1914, un, anything that we would like to see admitted or changed?
outline what changes we think would be useful and necessary.
we could then post the letters that they send back here to let others know how they reply.

Reading the amazing information about what a cult is, got me thinking....there are thousands of ppl here, why don't we do a letter writing campaign to the society, bombarding them with letters outlining things like the cult attachment to JW's, disfellowshipping, 1914, UN, anything that we would like to see admitted or changed? Outline what changes we think would be useful and necessary. We could then post the letters that they send back here to let others know how they reply. I once poured my heart out to them about my life. They sent back this pathetic letter with no personal attachement whatsoever. Any little crack in their facade would be a start, wouldn't it?
Let's get them working, reading and shake them up a little, let them know that we are here and want changes. We could try addressing the letters to specific individuals within the society hq as well.
What do you all think?

How Many People Are Less Stressed Since Leaving The Witnesses?

i've heard reports of better physical and mental health since persons have left the organization.

Tell you what, my devout JW mother is the most miserable person you ever will meet. She crys alot, has a sad face always, is SOOOO NEGATIVE about everything--"What a terrrible world" "All teenagers are so disgusting nowadays" "There is no good on the earth" "God needs to destroy it and make it clean." She walks, looks and talks miserable. She is a grouch. She does not show love to any of her children, even the JW ones, she is a weird grandmother that does not reach out to her grandchildren but for once a year, she contemplates suicide, she has a HORRIBLE marriage to an overseer, she hates her husband, she feels her life has been a waste, "But Jehovah will reward me someday". It has gotten to the point where when she smiles, I cring and am embarrassed because it looks so fake. Her entire persona is happy-energy sucking.

I visited my elderly JW parents today

Maybe I will change with time, but I personally don't want to see my mother. There is too much pain, too wide of a gap now in beliefs and too much to catch up on. Unless she was willing to start anew, no talk of the past, no playing catch up, if she was willing to just figure out who I am NOW, not who I was or could have been in her eyes. But I don't know if she is capable of that.
I don't ache for HER. I don't really like her and never have. I think she was f***ed up before JW and thought it would be a crutch, and it is, but with or without the religion, I am glad she is out of my life.

Welllllll, there you have it...MAN still wrote the bible, NOT God. It is bound to be tainted, contain germs, contain biases and be manipulated. I may believe, but there is no need to take the whole bible at absolute face value and place my entire trust in something that is STILL man-made. I follow it's principles and values, that coincide with my inner voice. History has taught us that Man makes toooooooo many laws and loves to rule over each other. The bible is the best lesson of all books in this. Yet the JW's take it literally. To me, the bible and God can be seperated.

Interesting conversation with a well known Elder in Brooklyn
by pratt1 inon my way home last night from work i ran into a prominent elder from brooklyn.
this guy is always featured at circuit assemblies and his family was presented as the model witiness family in the 80's.
