  Has this happened to you? You leave your witness family who now think you're garbage only to find your worldly family thinks you're low scum too?

  When we were witnesses, we lessened our association with our "worldly" family or outright ignored them. We ignored THEIR beliefs, (ie Christmas), the things that they held sacred, (ie birthdays) and then, when we become "worldly", we somehow expect them to open their arms wide.

  Maybe they see it as: Christmas was ignored before by you because you knew better and now it is done over the top by you, because you know better. Always one step above 'them'. Do you think it is possible that they did nothing "rude", rather they are trying to force you to respect their traditions, customs, beliefs rather than YOU setting the rules of engagement??? They have told you what they want, but you still want to do something different. ???

  A Long Post About MY SISTER. Shows up after 5 Yrs just to SHUN some more?

  my sister and i have become estranged because of the tension and hard feelings around this shunning of mom.

  it has been several years since i have seen her or heard from her.

  Extremely well put by Steve. Exactly how I feel. I was shunned for years by my mother and my brother. I can't tell you how much I needed them, especially her, as we were very close. (I was leaving an abusive marriage of 14 yrs, got remarried, got df'ed). Nothing from either of them.

  Well, now that I am reinstated, I wrote an 8 page letter to my brother explaining the reasons why I do not want anything to do with HIM now. I told him that I got reinstated for the one that did not shun me, not for the ones that did, so did shunning produce the results that he wanted? I told him that B (my mother) is not welcome in our lives, she is fading from my mind because that is what she wanted and worked hard to get. She has not even contacted me since my reinstatement. She is wacked, with or without the religion.

  Just because we share the same mother/father does not make anyone 'family' to me. I'll spend my energy and time with ppl that deserve it.

  god's been pretty quiet lately, and frankly, i think people have largely forgotten about him.

  it's time that he took center stage again and reminded people he's there.

  unlike in the past though when he might have killed somebody, floated an axe head, or caused some sort of atmospheric anomaly, today he'd be much more likely to simply show up on the today show for an interview.. let us assume that's what happened.

  Interviewer: "Hmmm, you seem to be avoiding my questions"

  God: "Am I? Or am I answering them perfectly?"

  Interviewer: "Your vagueness is unsettling, could you answer more directly please"

  God: "Am I vague or am I so clear you cannot see?"

  Interviewer: (exasperated) "Ok, maybe I should not have brought you here for this interview"

  God: "Am I really even here?"

  does anyone remember the fad of not saying "amen" at the end of a prayer?

  i think it started in the late 80s.

  what are some other fads that you remember?.

  Multilevel marketing schemes went through alot of BC congregations like wildfire in the late 1990s. For example,I remember AMWAY being huge here amongst witnesses and eventually alot of talks about multilevel marketing and using the congregation as a 'list of potentials' or using the meetings to 'contact' ppl. Not to take advantage of having a large community of ppl to pester.

  Amongst the city teen witnesses, they started to think it was cooler to call "the truth", "the deal"...hence they would say, "Is soandso still in the deal?" Don't think that one caught on...lol.

  Can someone help me decide what to do?

  can someone give me some feedback on what they would do in this situation:.

  last weekend my best friends husband told me that three years ago he caught (and spied on for about half an hour) my husband and my very best friend "getting hot and heavy" (his words) in our spa and that he watched them because "he found it hot".

  the three of them decided that they would not tell me and kept it a secret for the last three years until he told me (because he was drunk at the time).

  The talk that goes on inside your head can be far worse than what actually happened, the longer you let yourself 'fantasize' about what happened, the worse it gets and it will eat you up.

  I would HAVE to confront "my friend" and find out her version of events. You have asked your husband, asked him to take responsibility for it, now, why not everyone else involved.

  "My friend" would no longer be my friend anymore. Alcohol is just an excuse. If they were that obliterated so as to not know what they were doing, then they would not have been able to even make out.

  How Did Watching Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" Make You Feel?

  I realised that as a Witness you miss out on so much of what spirituality is and the power of Christianity. I have a lot more respect for Jesus now.

  I agree with the above statement but basically, the movie was a bloodbath to me. I couldn't watch any of the whippings, etc. Jez
