in genisis 11:6 jehovah appears to be worried that mankind will be able to do anything they desire.
did jehovah scatter men and use different languages as a controlling measure to make us dependent on him?
what happened to freewill?

Valis: would that be considered Solomon Islands Pidgin you were just speaking?
dey used brik fe stone an' tar fe mortar. 4thun dey said, "come, let's build ourselves da turf an' da towa dat reaches heavun. let's make ourselves famous so we won't be scattered in da house an' dere across da earth."
If you ever had the chance to see any literature from that language, you would understand what I mean...its really very phonetic.

well friends it is almost time for turkey again.
i had the pleasure of meeting w/our friends xenawarrior, lauralisa, thunderrider and sheilam., for an early thanksgiving.
it would be nice if we could all sit down and have some food together, but until we get one of those star trek transporter thingies it just aint happenin.
A good tradition for thanksgiving, or any holiday really....
Make sure you remember people who may not have any families or friends close. We always go out visiting to our friends houses that are also celebrating. This year we will be inviting a friend whos mother just passed, to make that day not so sad as it would be.
Valis, we always include deviled eggs, potato salad, three bean salad, baked beans, and dont forget the coffee. We like to mix ours up with a little irish cream. Erin Go Bragh!
Happy Turkey day to all!
everyone that is in the process of leaving dreads the thought of having the elders approach them, call them, etc.
the fact is----just because they say they want to meet with you or just because 2 elders stop by to visit you----you don't have to deal with them at all.
simply tell them you won't meet with them, you won't talk to them.
Sure you dont HAVE to go to the JC. I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone with any emotional problems. Every time I remember being in a JC (even when I accused someone else of a wrongdoing) they played the good cop, bad cop, to the point of extremes. The last JC I was in when I was being publicly reproved was enough to sour my taste for mans judgement, thats for sure.
When they decided to cast the last stone, they informed me that they needed to meet. I said sure! They met on a wed night at 6, waiting for a long time, I hope. I never showed.
The night afterward, the service meeting, they let everyone know I was disfellowshipped due to unrepentance from my sin. I didn't have to be there, and my mother came to my house crying, like I was dead. So started the shunning, and my mom and dad didnt speak to me for a year.
Their loss.

holy crow..this professional nba basketball game between the detroit pistons/indiana pacers sure got wild.. i wouldn't have wanted to have my kids their in the stands.
sheesh.... the big melee in detroit was just sooooooooo..upsetting for a basketball fan like myself.this fracas was as ugly as it gets.
now, let me get into how the uprising began.
Well, being from the hometown of the pacers, our whole city feels like we have a black eye. IMHO, players like Jermaine Oneal and Ron Artest (Who I both believe were signed straight from High School) showed their definate lack of maturity. Its a shame that we have to shield the players from the fans...and it does remind me very much of hockey.
I am at a loss for words on who is the guilty one, having grownup in Detroit! Its like a tug of war....so I keep my mouth shut about this issue....There is not a state bigger on basketball than Indiana, IMO, and if you don't watch every second of the game (which I don't) everyone around you has and knows what you didn't see. I didn't watch the game, I was busy wrangling my 10 month old, but from all the playback both local and national, Artest did snap.
For what its worth, the behavior on all sides were deplorable and if I had been at that game, you betcha I would be giving both the NBA and the corporation a big piece of my mind...there has been lots of talk about them fighting around kids...its such a shame that these people are supposed to be role models for our kids. Not on my watch....Id rather go see Sesame street live.

thanksgiving means more than turkey.
it means giving thanks for the things we are grateful for.. i am grateful i'm sober, relatively healthy, and have a terrific relationship with the love of my life.
i can no longer work, and he provides for me, pays my health insurance and medical, food, shelter, entertainment, travel.
Im grateful that I am able to continue my education.
Im greatful for my baby, Hannah.
Im greatful for a loving husband.
Im greatful to live in a free (HA!) country.
Im greatful for the bountiful meal I will be partaking of on Thursday.
I'm greatful that my husbands ex lives a thousand miles away.
Im greatful that I have a place like here to say what Im greatful for. MelbaToast
see how they quote deuteronomy "binding others with a spell" regarding hypnosis!

That is such, for lack of a better term...HOCKEY PUCK! In my case anyways, the times I have been under hypnosis I was aware of everything around me, and I was much more aware of my surroundings than usual. I have been under hyponsis twice and they were not really to "cure" anything per se (weight issues, smoking...) My psych prof actually did a mini-hypnosis in one of our classes. I was so relaxed I had actually started crying at the end of his session.
But devils in the mind?! I remember an article similar that also dealt with meditation and how it would be wrong as christians to meditate......except if you were meditating on "gods word" Huh?
Just another minute detail that the WTS has to tell their followers to make sure they "hold steadfast".
What a bunch of bs.

..wonder if anyone would like to help me send a hug and a 'hi' to tim; she's lovely and could do with a smile on her face at the moment...jw's can be pretty nasty when they're feeling righteous.....
Sorry life is so rough for you right now...Remember, things are always darkest before the dawn. My thoughts are with you .

i still haven't got mine.
but i think the hubby had a good sense of humor when he thought of tim horton.
i mean how fitting for an ex jw.
I chose Melba Toast from way back. My real name is Melanie and I have always had people make fun of my name (Melonhead, Melancholy, etc) so melba toast just kind of fits like an old sock.
Plus, I have been toasted on more occasions than I care to remember, and of course Its a cracker (just like me) Just Kidding.
