Elsewhere responded to my first thread, which I believe was my second post, but the first one to get a response. Thanks, Elsewhere. You made me feel welcome here.

Recent weather conditions
by ballistic in.
with all the news on tv lately about the extreme weather conditions affecting the east coast of the us, the mud slides in the middle east and south america, along with the dire predictions made by such films as the day after tomorrow, we shouldn't forget that england has its share of devastating weather too.. i've attached a photo illustrating the damage caused to a friend's home from a storm that passed through southern england last night.. it really makes you cherish what you have, and reminds us not to take things for granted.. .

Help me pls ... advice needed.
by Vivamus inmy family is in a battle over morality and character, this being fought over my grandma's dead body, who would turn in her grave would she know.. .
the main battle is between my mother and my uncle, who accuses my mum of theft and immoral behaviour, and my mum who did in all honsty no such thing, tho she has done some lousy things on this battlefield.. .
i am very much prevelidged to see the emailwar that goes on between them.

Vivamus, I wouldn't send it to my uncle because I would be worried that he'd take it out on my mom even more. Of course, your uncle may be different than my uncle. What I would do instead is write to my mom expressing my support of her and offering to help out with my uncle in any way my mom thought necessary.

i have a new god! it is my digital cable
by doogie inman, my digital cable is unbelievable and i firmly believe that my cable box has divine power.. i have hbo and with the miraculous power of the digital cable you also get "hbo on demand" which is like a vcr in your cable box.
you can play/rewind/fast forward any movie or show hbo is currently showing that month whenever you want.. how did i go so long without it?
it is like water in a dry land.

You are preaching to the choir, doogie. When all of the on demand services came to my area, I was thinking I might quit my job just so I could take full advantage of on demand. In fact, I called in sick the day after I got it and stayed home watching on demand all day! Unfortunately, when I bought my (first!!) house in May and tried to get cable hooked up, I realized that Comcast is like the WTB&TS with the conditional love. I had a very bad experience that eventually drove me into the arms of the world (a/k/a Direct TV). It's been an adjustment. Sure, sometimes I miss the love I thought Comcast had for me, but then I remember the dark side of that love -- the ever-increasing prices, the unkept cable appointments, the poor customer service -- and I rejoice that I now have Direct TV and TiVo.

Divorce rate of JW's less than the rest of the "world"??
by Samdownunder inthroughout my teen years when my doubt was high and my hesitancy to commit was even higher, my father always told me that no life in the world could ever compare to life in the "truth".
he said the peace and joy jw's experience in their lives is better than anything i could find out there in "satans world".
he also constantly threw out the statistic( as he is a bullshit artist) that witness marriages have less than a 5% divorce rate, as compared to 50% outside the "truth".

But Ezekiel3, where are the bullet points covering waiting on Jehovah, praying more and going out in field service more?

Maybe this is why so many elders can get away with having affairs for so long.
LOL, yet another way the WTS discriminates against women!

Would you attend your own DF'ing/DA announcement?
by unbeliever inmy friend was summoned to a jc.
she did not go and pretty much told the elders to kiss her ass.
she wants to attend the announcement which is tonight.

Margie
Yikes, unbeliever. Your mom is pretty effective at the guilt. Has she been giving pointers to my mom? Have you thought about how you're going to respond?
