Bank of America, like many big banks, sucks. I don't blame you for being upset, LovesDubs. Have you tried calling your state's Attorney General's office?

Hi again everyone. I haven't been here in a while, but it's nice to see so many old faces (posters).
Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows what doctrine exists, if any, on JWs marrying non-JWs. My sister, a JW, is getting married to a non-JW in a couple of months. My mother said that she won't attend my sister's wedding, but my father and brother (both JWs) will attend. According to my JW family members, attendance at my sister's wedding is a "conscience matter," and my mother's conscience leads her in a different direction from my father's and brother's. My mom said that by not "marrying in the lord," my sister is breaking a vow she took to Jehovah when my sister was baptised at the ripe old age of 15. I asked my mom whether she wasn't attending my sister's wedding in order to protect her own salvation (ha!) or whether she was doing it to try to dissuade my sister from getting married at all. My mom gave sort of a mush-mouthed answer that I took to mean that my mom hasn't really thought it through, which probably means that what's at the root of my mom's decision is a need to passive aggressively register her disapproval with my sister's choice.
First, does anyone know if "marrying in the lord" really means marrying a baptized JW? I'm sure that's what everyone *thinks* it means that, but does it really? And what's with my mom's attendance being a conscience matter? My sister apparently isn't getting disfellowshipped for marrying a non-JW, so I'm confused about why my mom thinks that her attendance at my sister's wedding would be the same as my mom's attendance at a disfellowshipped person's wedding. That seems illogical. I know there must be about a million arguments that could be made for why my mom is wrong, so if anyone can suggest others, I'm all ears.
Thanks all.

My JW sister wants her mom and siblings to pay for HER retirement!
by Who are you? inkind of long...thanks in advance for letting me vent!.
my sister has been a jw since 1974. she's been waiting for the end of this "system of things" since the fall of 1975. she never went to college.
she has had probably 80 or more jobs since 1974. she has no retirement savings.

This situation makes me really sad for your family. There must be a lot of older JWs in the same boat as your sister (i.e., having nothing for retirement) and it must be scary as hell to be in that situation. Your sister must feel pretty desperate. Of course, your sister's situation now is the totally foreseeable outcome of her choices throughout her life. I don't have any advice. I just hope you and your family are able to work this out in whatever way is best. Good luck.

It's also reported that Fred:
- Was a strange visitor from another planet, who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.
- Was faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
- Fights a never ending battle for Truth, Justice and the American way.
Now someone just needs to create FredFranzFacts.com to pay homage to FF's incredible round house kicks.

Quotes update: Free to publicly comment on the action
by Quotes infor the newbies, this post is a follow up on my situation regarding the watch tower's law suit against my due to my watch tower quotes web site.
for the background on the story so far, see these threads:
quotes website receives "cease & desist"

One remaining question: What do you think: So far, it appears that the "DNS" (Domain Name Server) entry for watchtower.ca has not been updated, so if you try the quotes web site URL, you still get my old server (with no files on it). This is not my fault. I no longer have any control over Watchtower.ca. Watch Tower Canada now owns watchtower.ca, and as the owners it is up to them to decide which web server you see when you type the URL into your web browser.
You should post a link to this thread on your server. That'll teach them not to change the DNS.
