I just read a link I was provided about CAN and deprogramming. I am appalled at the intent to violate the civil rights of people that were in group that were labeled at cults
yesterday i tuned into espn sports radio and listened to a semi-political debate on several issues.
when "same sex" marriage came up one of the talking heads refrained that "all marriages are same sex.
" you get married and have the "same sex" over and over again!

About the notices I have been sending out to you and the other 8 people that volunteer with ATE, I really don't want you to show up at the meeting. Your services are no longer needed. I have heard story after story of elders and judicial committee that have behaved like you did that day at the Village Inn. In a nutshell you really fucked up. Here is how you fucked up.
Instead of researching into something I was doing on the internet, you should have asked me directly about it. Depending on how you asked me, I might have told you. Asking me, "what are you doing with those," and "do you really need to have those things in order to research them" are not appropriate questions to ask. It's none of your damn business.
Also grilling me with the questions "Do you have a spell book...Do you have a spell book?? was inappropriate. The Log book which had the sample spells recorded in it was picked up by Kindra while she was house-sitting for us. It was not in plain site. That was what Kindra said. Did you know that?
You made the Triggers and phobias ailment a moral issue with your "What were you thinking?" comment, as if it was policy. It was not during a support group when these things happened.
Kindra was already asking me questions about Wicca and related subjects when I brought the tarot card to a meet up. That's what happens when a third party gets involved in a matter he or she really knows nothing about. I am not a Wiccan or a witch; I am studying it. Also to think only in negative terms like being afraid I am going to cast a spell on you is simply ignorant and barbaric. That would be called black magic. Did you know there are also white magic, red magic (passion, love), green magic (prosperity), as well as several types of magic signified by a color? According to Christian bigotry, there is only one type of magic: black magic
Kristin and I are in agreement as to our feelings about this matter, but she does not agree with my decision. There is a non-discrimination clause in the corporate articles and bylaws, and that's why you are being terminated.

I just found my intial email complaint to Wally about this issue. Some in the Christian community might be upset at some of the things I experimented with or studied at one time but that's not thier concern. The email will be posted in a second post

What blew me away was the fact these people did not really live in the late 1800 as you were led to believe at first, but some how made their way to a wild life preserve that existed in our day and age. and from this whole account, since the members of FOCUS seem to be all former members of CAN, and the members of ReFOCUS were all members of FOCUS, and Mr. Shiel left his position in 1995, that could reasonably be ASSUMED that he was with CAN originally and all the way up to the beginning of ReFOCUS, but it doesn't actually SAY that, you would have to extrapolate it.

The whole Jason Scott affair seems to be in the mid 1990's, right around the time Mr. Shiel departed. So who was present, and responsible for what?

I found this, which gives the date of Jason Scott's abduction as 1990. the lawsuit was filed I think in 1994. verdict 1995. Still looking.

I found some replies to this issue on a another board that are so well researched that I am going to post them here in two separate posts:
| I looked this up somewhere, now I have to find the link again. The only public reference to Wally Shiel and CAN is AFTER CAN basically disfellowshipped FOCUS. In other words, some members of CAN formed an offshot branch called FOCUS due I presume to internal philosophical differences (but I couldn't find what those were specifically) but certainly some disagreements with Rick Ross. CAN then gave FOCUS the boot and kept the name for itself, forcing the new 'child' to call itself by something new, it chose 'ReFOCUS'. It was at this time that Wally Shiel's name comes into the picture for the first time. Shortly after this ReFOCUS got its 501 status. Sometime around now also, CAN had been fighting a number of lawsuits led it seems by a Scientology-related attorney. One finally 'stuck' and led to the demise of the group and the name and other assets being bought up by what appears to be Scientology money. 1) People in the field are getting away from the word CULT, and certainly moving away from the word 'cult' and today I certainly wouldn't have it as part of my group's name. 2) The idea of forcibly changing someone's belief system has a long and glorious history among a certain Bible-based religious beliefe system. I think they believe their God is really STUPID and he can't really read hearts, and he would hold something against someone they couldn't help. but that goes to teh root of that belief system, does it not: that God can't forgive people for being born imperfect, oh no we must have thousands of years of blood, guts and glory to fix this why: because God proves how powerful he is--by doing NOTHING. 3)Yes forcible programming was never held in high esteem by very many, and recently not by anyone prominent in the filed of religious abuse; not that I could find.
