Descender is on the money! The wait staff always remembers the big ones and the little ones. I worked in many restaurants. My favorite customer was a middle aged couple that would tip me when they were seated. The first time he said "Now ya know what kinda service to give me" They were great ! They always called us by our names intead of hey waiter. We knew their names and it was a big deal when they came in. They were always cheerful and they always made a bad night turn into a good one. I once read that you can judge a persons character by how they treat the wait staff. I think that is true.

Okay you have the wedding that is one day out of your life... then what? Are you going to have children? If so, have you talked aobut how you will raise your children? Very important.. he may want them to be raised JW...people change after they have children and sometimes they revert back to the values and principles they learned early in life and they want their children to have what they had. If you are going to have children you need to decide what faith if any, you are going to teach them. If no kids are in your future, it sounds like you know waht you are up against with the JW relatives. Good luck

Cow tipping? Hmmm.... I didn't know cows even went out for dinner. Must be one of those all you can eat salad bars and they probably leave a few glasses of milk as a tip depending on service. We always fed them in the milking barn. I don't think they ever went out to eat.

My mom smuggled a NWT into my house!
by reganashe ini went to visit some friends in san diego and my little one (2 1/2) stayed the night at my moms house so she could visit with grandma.
well when i picked her up she told me that she had taken her to "meeting" and that she had been a very good girl.
well i didnt want to make a big deal about taking her to meeting because i really needed some grown up time and it was nice for my mom to offer to take my daughter for the night.

Still I have a question for you. If you are against JWs, why did you leave your little one with grandma on meeting night in the first place? Grandma is not a closet JW -- From what I have seen and read a closet JW is an oxymoron isn't it? You also know when meeting night is. What did you think mommy dearest was going to do? If you don't want daughter at the KH then don't drop her off with granny on meeting night, becasue you know what grandma does that night and it aint BINGO (that would make her Catholic) . Sorry to be such a hard ass, but you are the parent = responsible one for the child. You set your self up for problems becasue you wanted "grown up time".

Oh, and stop being afraid (I used to be so afraid) ... it takes up too much energy... Think about what is the worst thing that could happen....and if the worst happens, so what? She is your duaghter so put your helmet on and get out there and stand up for her now --- and she will respect you later. We are all rootin for ya !!!

Here is my two cents. If it bothers you and obviously it does or you would not have posted, then buy your little one a different mini book and sit down and read it with her. Make it special. You know this is exactly what grandma did when she gave it to her. Now you have to undo that, but it is an easy chore because the little person loves you, you have constant contact with her and you are the world to her. She will forget all about the other book and you can lose it.
As for mom, well she knew what she was doing and she got your goat. She is your mom and knows how to get you to react. Now you need to unload. Why? Because if you let the little things slide ? you know there will be a lot more of these ?little things? ? they will build up into a BIG THING and you will pop! (I have been there) So here is my suggestion to get it off your chest. Don?t say anything to mom, I mean absolutely nothing. What mom wants is for you to bring it up so she can save you! So you can finally AWAKE! She put the magazine there for a reason. To get to YOU. She is probably so proud of herself and thinks she did such a great thing. She is waiting for you to call and discuss it all. Your choice to not discuss it will bother her, as much as finding the magazine bothered you. Of course you continue to talk to mom because she is your mom and you are her daughter and you love each other. If she questions you about it, take a deep breath and change the topic. if she insists then tell her thanks but no thanks and end of that discussion and change the topic. If she persists tell her ya gotta run your daughter spilled her juice and talk with her later about mom daughter things.

Hi ! Following the thread here. I did not see this mentioned so far. If you are over 40 you may still need reading glasses afer surgurey. Simply becasue of the aging of your eyes. So don't think you will be w/o glasses. What I was not prepared for was that I could not see close up like before. Freaked me out at first. I used to take off my glasses to be able to see a splinter in my hand, read a map or look closely at my face, now I need cheaters (reading glasses) or a magnifying glass and it is not as clear as before. BUT had I not had the operation I would have had to start using bifocals which I did not want to do. The reading glasses are inexpensive so I bought several pairs and keep them handy. My eyes are also a bit more sensitive to the sun. As mentioned, the drops are needed so don't skip them.
Would I do it again YES ! I can see roadsigns off in the distance, read the alarm clock in the morning and I am not blind in the pool.

JW Spouse problems

i am not sure what she is doing - and i am not interested in jw -- it is not for me or my children.
a sister was coming to my home -- without my consent and giving a "study" to my children.

Country Girl I apologize ! It was a joke...apparently a bad one...sorry. I have friends in the midwest of the US and they joke around a lot talking like that. I have plenty of family that are farmers and have worked in the fields. We are no strangers to hard work getting one ahead so I identify with that.
And yes I do appreciate your advice, so again sorry to offend you.
