I'm a bit like Sunshine, although maby not bitter. Sad might be a better description of how I feel, sad over the wasted time and over the things that I've lost. Maby I'm becoming better adjusted, (or maby it's the tablets!) But anyway that negative emotion is mixed with a good deal of relief. Oh and yes I get a great deal of pleasure from doing things now that I wasn't allowed to do before and I love music!

What pisses you off about elders wives?
by bay64me in.
the elders wife that really pisses me off, is the one that would boastfully announce that jehovah had provided her husband with a part-time teaching job, emphasising that his employment was "on the line" each year....but thanks to jehovah,(in other words) we are so fucking loyal and do many hours in field service and things that nobody could possibly know about ( but i'm letting you know indirectly) so my husband has an income to assist us in our pioneer service!

WHICH MEETING WAS THE MOST BORING?
by minimus inthe more meetings you go to the more drivel you hear.
elder's meetings were terrible because all you ever did was gossip about how everyone wasn't doing this or that.
meetings for field service sucked.....enough said on that.

I'm tempted to say that I hated those awful-set-up-family-discussion-things that were to be found in the kingdom ministry, where generally, there was an elder, his wife and the kids who just did not want to be up there on the platform.
These totally unrealistic, allegedly true-to-life discusions used to make me sick, but secretly I would enjoy watching elders son sqirm when Mrs elder would say something like "how can we be less distracted and make our family study night more interesting" and the son had to read out something like...."by getting our priorities straight.........and mabydoing some research beforehand ............and making the bible characters really live!............... and dressing up in long garments with tea-towels on our heads.etc, etc........

Ever lie on your service reports?
by The_Bad_Seed in*laughing just thinking about it*.
did anybody out there lie on their service reports that they maintained the 'national average' when in reality you got .005 hours of service in any given month?
i magically always used to always get "10" hours out in service, while nobody ever saw me at the groups, no one ever caught on, or seemed not to -- maybe they just didn't give a shit.. i always lied so i could keep my microphone 'privelidges' -- that being, the privelidge to walk around at the back of the hall giving my deflated ass a break from those awful chairs they had.

What!
I never cease to be amazed at you lot! There was me feeling terrified of ever miscalculating my field service report!
There was a particular brother that used to often quote some obscure-to-me-now proverb, that spoke about a false weight.... that scared thesh it out of me!
I was always accurate, very accurate!

Most Dubs Know Its Garbage.........
by ISP ini have contacts with quite a few dubs....still and can talk freely to a small number.
thats the conclusion that i've come to.
at least ones that have been in it some time.

Well, ISP, you are probably right, yet that pisses me off somewhat!
I joined the org when I was at an age that I should have known better. Nontheless, without offering further excuses, I swallowed the bait and got baptised.
The thing that really pisses me off is the fact that I was unaware at that time of the "lukewarm" clan! I was totally and utterly blind to the fact that there existed a JW that was not 100% zealous for the "truth"! ! !
I was absolutel yonfu ckingfire and bombarded my own neighbourhood with offers of bible studies and magazines galore all the while believing that my "fellow-workers" were as keen and eager as I.
Whataf uckingd isappointment when I found out the reality of the situation!
Most of the members in my old congregation were half -hearted, self -righteous,lazybastards who couldn't care less about Mr or Mrs Havn'tgotaclue and would never think twice about offering a BIBLE STUDY (which after all was meant to provide the knowledge that leads to everlasting life)!

3 minutes and it was over....
by LyinEyes inthis is just a side thought about us disassociating ourselves last nite, it took all of three minutes.. 35 years of my life being a jw, same for wild, 11 yrs of him being an elder and it all came down to two men of the phone to finalize our departure.. what i find strange about this, is that not once did they ask us to reconsider, or if we would think about it for a couple of days and then we could get back with them.
they didnt ask for one more shepherding call, they didnt say goodbye, they didnt say we would be missed.
they were so formal almost like robots with no feeling.

I havnt been d/f or d/ad myself yet, but the cold and uncaring way in which you and your husband have been treated does not surprise me one bit. I know of many people that have given 101% to the org, (myself included) and the moment that percentage drops beyond what they expect of you, you are basically on your own.
I can only imagine the relief that you are now feeling, now that it's finally over. But I can understand the sadness you feel too, at must what feel like a huge waste of energy, time and effort that has seemingly gone unnoticed.
My thoughts on this is that they were simply 'doing their job' or going through the motions and as we well know, the indoctrination process of becoming and being a jw, simply does not incorparate common curtesy, compassion or understanding of anybody that does things a different way.
I think I know where you are coming from and I'm sure many others here do too. But what the f--- Xmas is only a couple of months away. E N J O Y !

WHAT'S THE WORSE THING YOU DID AT THE MEETING?
by Mary ini would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?
