"for many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that jesus christ is come in the flesh.
this is a deceiver and an anti-christ.. if there come any unto you, and bring not his doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him god speed: for he that biddeth him god speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
" 2nd john 7, 10-11. what i want to know is....how many of you heathen bastards are guilty of this awfull practice?.

i am not a jw myself but i am wondering if this is the proper punishment for kids of jws ?.
my 2 neices are aged 12 &10 their step dad and mother are practising jw,s and the step dad thinks this is acepptable punishment for these girls.
he pulls down their knickers and hits these girls with a belt untill there are welts on their backsides.
That is disgusting!
Does the mother of these children think it's appropriate?
i wonder if any of you who are now da or just faded have consciously or subconsciously done what i seem to be doing lately.
that is, cutting ties with people.
i don't mean cutting ties with people who are obviously abusers, etc.
I can identify with what you are saying. I have been severing my ties gradually, over a period of time.
Moving house has been helpful in putting a physical distance there. I don't call the people that I used to anymore and I am learning to become more independant.
One drawback that I have noted in all of this though, is that I have become a little isolated. That is not always a bad thing as I like peace and quiet, but I think it would be healthier to make new friends for myself.
.
an army friend of ours says that the armed forces are buzzing with rumours that the government has plans to bring the draft back to the uk very shortly.. at present, over 50% of forces personal have been earmarked for active service in iraq, more than any time since ww2.. first in line for conscription are unemployed males in the 18 - 35 age group.. englishman..
I was having a conversation with a friend about this subject, just the other day.
Seeing as the police force are having such a dilema as to what to do with burglars at the moment, don't you think it is a good idea?
Maby a good dose of discipline is what is needed for persistent car thieves, burglars, shop-lifters, etc.
As for the unemployed, if they were to be conscripted, wouldn't that be a great opportunity for them to be trained in some skill, thus enhancing their career prospects?

Rebel,
sounds like you went to the same hall as me!
what are some of the fashion trends you've seen or worn at the hall?
any interesting stories to share?.
some i remember off the top of my head are tie bars, tie clips, polyester suits, wide ties... we used to have brothers who would "compete" with designer cologne like polo, etc.. the memorial was always a fashion show.. yellowlab
Rubadub,
You took the words right out of my mouth. I can't recall seeing much 'fashion' at the kingdom hall either!
There were a lot of charity-shop-numbers and ill fitting hand-me-downs at the hall I attended. There was a sort of unspoken rule that to be too fashionable was worldly. The more dowdy women dressed, kind of made them appear to be more spiritual.
The male attire was a joke. Double breasted suits with w i d e lapels, white sport socks with black shoes ,and I swear, one of the elders wore origional 1970s hipster flares!
I hated having to wear skirts all of the time. I got rid of the grotty stuff that I used to wear. I actually like getting ready to go out now.

from the magazines, where the society says that we can just leave the organisation, as opposed to being disfellowshipped or disassociated.. i've noticed that a few posters have referred to this from time to time.. bay64me.
Thank you all. That is just what I needed.
