  i am starting this thread because so many others have taken such interesting turns and, on some ocassions, been threadjacked, sometimes by me.

  i hesitate to post it in "personal experiences" because it is most certainly not a personal experience, but i don't know what would be a better area.. the purpose here is to clear up a lot of confusion about what science and the scientific method are and are not.

  science is a method for investigating observations, gaining knowledge, correcting knowledge.

  i was browsing through the new public edition watchtower article for march 2012. generaly, id say i agree.

  of course there are more than 5 ways of identifiying who christians are today, but the following are reasonable enough benchmarks:.

  News Item!! The Biblical NT story has been PROVEN to be a hoax!!

  ok i lied; there's no such news item.

  however, imagine for a minute that it was indeed fact and that the evidence was irrefutable that the new testiment account in the bible was proven to be a hoax started by the early constantine government and perpetuated by the church over the centuries.

  now, if you are of the atheist persuation it seems plausable that your reaction would be something similar to "i told you so" and that life would go on pretty much as usual.

  Very simple: Produce the dead body of Jesus of Nazareth and I will become an atheist. No other religions founders handled man's problem, death, like he did.

  Your faith seems rather weak if that's all it would take to deconvert you. I suspect you'll rely on modern scientific studies to confirm the method of death, age of the bones, dna structure and or am I wrong and will you need it to be a priest who confirms they are indeed Jesus' bones.

  Use the following suggestions as applicable. :)

  Join a gym or similar fitness centre.

  Sign up for an educational course.

  Redecorate any parts of your home looking tired and worn out.

  Get a new wardrobe - underwear through to evening wear.

  Have a major declutter of any parts of your home housing junk ( be harsh ).

  Put together a debt management program and get rid of credit cards.

  Try the 'yes' rule. Every time someone offers you an invite to a party, sports event, lecture or just to watch a movie at someone's house do it, don't take emotional baggage along and give yourself over to simply being rather than analysing and then laugh and cry your time with friends, aqua trenches* and strangers.

  Never ever underestimate the power of physical touch. Learn to shrink your personal space.

  Never mess with marrieds or those in relationships.

  Do all this and your self esteem will soar. The most attractive thing in a partner is justifiable self esteem based upon genuine life control. You won't stay single long.

  does anyone on this forum have knowledge about casting out demons or evil spirits?

  there's at least two of them that have been harrasing me even before i was a jw.

  i recently attended a deliverance church to find some help but it was apparent that the holy spirit was missing from that church.

  PS - that article leapt all the way from maths is great to photons are mental without any in between step. Humans have thoughts that are the product of brain electro - chemical reactions cascading back and forth across the physical brain. Thought doesn't exhibit the behaviour of light ( its not made up of photons ) but it's conclusions are manifest in behaviour. To ascribe such characteristics to rocks and rainbows is not even wrong. Suggest you stop reading silly websites and go enrol in courses on human biology , neuroscience , quantum physics and optics.

  One course of action may lead you to make accurate predictions about the world around you and maybe even contribute something useful back to society in an invention, a new job or a scientific study the other course will leave you posting gobbledygook on a forum. Mysticism can be very poetic and I suspect it boosts the sale of beads and scented candles but I'm not aware of any advances to mankind's useable and useful knowledge that it has contributed.
