  How do I hear/feel God?

  this is a serious question.. i know people that hear/feel god (and see postings about people's experiences), but i have not experienced this.

  i have never heard anything audibly (or otherwise) nor "felt" anything inwardly.. i've prayed, read, quieted my thoughts, etc...but still nothing..

  Marital problems - advice (or support) please

  completely non-jw related this but value the diversity of experience and viewpoint on this forum.

  i am going to sketch this out quick as i can but please ask any questions if the gaps need filling.. as some may know, i have been married for 12 years with two children (8 and 4).

  my wife stopped work when the eldest was born and has been a stay at home mum since.

  The End of Biblical Studies?

  a while ago i read a book called the end of biblical studies by evangelical turned sceptical academic hector avalos.

  i thought it was really interesting perhaps because it mirrors some of the stages i went through as regards how i viewed the bible as i was leaving the witnesses.

  at first i still believed the bible was inspired by god but learned to use different methods to interpret it than witness eisegesis.

  Science and the supernatural - thoughts and opinions wanted

  i definitely support science, i think that the entire field is fascinating.

  the things that have been discovered and that will be discovered in the future is mind-boggling.

  i do wonder, however, if there is some things that science can't explain.

  Every supernatural story is always so much less magnificent than the reality. Forgive me EE but Thors hammer is good but nowhere near as awesome as vast electrical sparks that are sometimes so large ( in space) as to encompass galactic distances and shatter the surfaces of planets like giant arc welding torches. Ghosts, goblins, dragons and faeries, water walking zombies and so on - boring and infantile. We are discovering nature one unique stone at a time don't ever let the next prophet spoil it with stupid stories that aren't even as good as Harry Potter.

  Botch - do you understand hypocrisy? Do you understand that Cofty is happy for AG to be her nasty self as she unfailing is? Do you understand that this is simply Cofty taking AG up on her offer to stop the hypocrisy and stop using words such as 'peace' after a puerile attack? I thought even you could see that.

  AG is a nasty piece of work. So what. Apparently her religious faith doesn't make her a nicer person - it seems to simply make her post ugly. Ultimately that's fine. If this is what Christ's influence does then yuck, please keep it. I'll own my anger and my disdain and not hide it behind intentionally bad grammar and meaningless lies. I let AG post pages of vitriol about me and keep my ripostes short and pointed.

  AG - please take me off your 'dear' and 'peace' list as well. You are welcome to continue mangling grammar, meaning and everyone you dislike.

  what do you personally believe happens after we die?

  i don't believe we really know everything about god or the afterlife.

  i do believe that we do transform to something beyond our physical comprehension.

  "please sign in" was all mom said to me and my boys at her sisters funeral yesterday at the kindom hall

  my dad never once looked at me...i went even though they did not come to the door when i went to tell her i was sorry about her sister...that i had heard through the grapvine her sister had died...they did not even ccall me...and they did not answer the phone when i left the message asking for the time and place of the funeral unless they did not want us to attend...and they did not call....but we all decided to go anyway and im glad we did....but it was surreal...i will share more later.

  and i have a close friend nearby dfd about four years ago whose dad is dying and wont hardly ever talk to her... he does a bit but not her mom....neither does robert7s mom talk at all to him and yes it causes pain...but i think i am finally close to healing that last part of mine......oompa.

  funny but just realized that the above two cases both people are recognizd as a son or daughter important enough to shun like me...but we dont get shunned like dfd and apostate sons at the funeral...just another attendee...wow.

  cameron briefly confronted the argentine president cristina fernandez de kirchner when they met at the g20 meeting in mexico today.. the prime minister told ms fernandez she should "respect the views" of islanders who are taking part in a referendum on the issue of control.

  My father fought in the war as well - he risked his life over the political posturing of an inept administration, mistakes that are being repeated again. There is a logical reason why we needed those Islands, it is because they are our people. They are not yours.
