like a giraffes neck enabling it to reach tall leaves or a whale's fins.
anyway, i just read this cas ein the newspaper about a finnish cross-country skier who won 2 gold medals in the 1964 winter olympics.

Anyway, i just read this cas ein the newspaper about a Finnish cross-country skier who won 2 gold medals in the 1964 winter olympics. It had long been rummored his performance was 'super-human' and that he had to have cheated somehow.
It turned out they were right. But he hadn't cheated on purpose. Evolution had given him an edge. The Skier, Eero Mantyranta had a random mutation in his DNA that causes his body to crank out much more red blood cells than the average athlete. He was getting several times the amount of oxygen to his muscles that other atheltes did, giving him the edge to win. If it were a life or death thing, the other atheltes would have died, and Eero would have passed on his DNA mutation to future generations. Over time, we'd all have this mutation to give us an edge in life.
I thought this was an interesting case of modern evolution, anyone have any comments?

Going out with a bang
by LittleToe inafter much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.

This again supports my argument that by publicly DAing yourself you do a lot more good than just quietly slipping away. Very commendable. Id award you my cats in recognition of your bravery but they would probably not look good bronzed on a mantlepiece of pinned to a lapel

mothman sightings have occured all over the world for many years, sort of like bigfoot but more widespread and involving prophesies. Very strange if you ask me. I'll never buy chapstick again.

Ordered Complexity necessitates Design

Qestions too US peopel
by happy man inwhen we in sweden read about so much terribel things happend in us, for exampel all this killing and massakers,.
and scandals, as now in enron bussiness, i read that one boss killd himself, it is perhaps a new wartegate scandal.. then when i see all this movies widh a lot of killing and other terribel things, as been send all overer the word from hollywood,.
can you not understand that some peopel see this as a poison , , if i then look what us military done, inn irak, and other places, killing innocent peopel, i think you goverment show one face at home , and other face inn for exampel the 3 word.. if i say if your presidint shows upp to bee involvd inn this mess inn enron , what do you say, as talk so much of jw as bad peopel, .

On another note, the death of the former Enron executive just before he was about to testify was very likley murder, especially considering he already resigned from enron a year ago protesting their business dealings and had no real reason to kill himself.
Bush is indeed tied to enron, as are many people in the current US white house. When your dealing with this much money, your dealing with a lot of purchased government officials.
