  the golden rule was quoted and the mailer said this was a law of justice not of love.

  the principle being that all people are owed to be treated well.

  I find it hard work going through Russell's writing. I'll keep reading, maybe RR could give us the DAWN perspective. But IMHO of it it seems only the New Creation gets the Law of Love (John), no one else. Everybody body is under the Law of Justice, being under Mosaic Law (decalogue). So in our vernacular that's the Annointed getting the fruits of the Spirit, and no one else. I'll try reading it again.

  Hey good catch, Blondie! In the Fort Worth Bible Students mailer it did say that Love was superior to Justice, so (to me, as I don't have the mailer with me for the precise wording) the Golden Rule is more basic than the Rule of Love. Anyway, so that's a Russell teaching that's still relevant today! So when did the Golden Rule change from Justice to Love? And more to the point what does that do for the JDubya versus the Bible Student? Does that mean a JDubya thinks it is agape-Love to do the door-to-door work, when really door-to-door work cannot be sanctioned by a rule of Justice. Maybe it's the conspiracy theorist wihtin me that would say it would be convenient for a republishing empire to encourage its unpaid salespeople to follow the Golden Rule of Love by selling its products. In the same breath it is no longer a matter of (the lack of) Justice to shun a wayward brother, as now it is is Love to teach the wayward to return to the Organization by disfellowshipping him good and proper. The principle being that all people are owed to be treated well. I was wondering if this is Old Light (ie Russell's) and when did the New Light (Love) come about as JW law. To me owing someone to be treated as you would be treated is more a matter of justice than love. In that "light" shunning of errant JW's is unjust and that stating it is Love is bogus. Anyway, Blondie, you always have a good eye for nabbing the right info'. What do you think? Glen
