Mary and virginity

last night i heard for the first time that other religions teach that mary was always a virgin and that she never had any more children.

please explain how jw's arrive to say she did have more children.

i am so lost because i haven't been to a meeting in a hundred years.

Then what do you all suppose happened to Mary. Was she born without sin? If this is the teaching of the Catholic church then why did she die? I asked that question last night as well and the response was that they don't know.

The answer when I asked was that in those days the term "brother's and sisters" was used to mean cousin. I was super lost and several people looked at me as if I had 3 heads.

Only one Catholic in the bunch and the others are mainly coming from Methodist backgrounds. So the Catholic church is the only one teaching this?

Oh and one more thing...where is the account of Mary's death in the bible. I can't find it.

I posted here 1 year ago with the happiest news of my beautiful child being born. 2 weeks later it all came apart. "Normal" is not a word in my house anymore.

I am here and you can pm me anytime you like. Vent and rage here. You need the outlet. Remember you are not alone. Below is my new favorite quote for the week.

Fragile child, still awkward in your small body. I hold you as if you were made of glass, frightened of moving the wrong way. I am overwhelmed that you are mine, that God has chosen me to protect you. I feel helpless at times knowing that one day you will step into the world and that I must know exactly when to let you go.

i read here so much that sometimes it makes my head hurt with how much bs i have been fed all of my life.

now that i am studying another religion i am so pissed off i can't see straight.

i don't care to get into a heated debate with my family over what i am choosing to do so i come here asking for 5 questions (there can be plenty more) that i can just say to my family that would give them pause as to why i am not going to their church anymore.

I am now referring to the JW's as church because that is what they are. So let's say if mom and I are in a conversation where she pulls her passive aggresive crap, I would respond with :

1: I am really bothered by the generation change in 1995.

That is a simple sentence that is using the "I feel" part. Please post what other sentences I can say that would plant a teeny tiny seed of doubt without being combative.

at our special assembly day, there was a visiting speaker from bethel.

don't remember his name, but he was a humorless and austere gentleman who was very clearly a company man.

he said many questionable things, especially in the way he generalized about "the world" and "worldly ones.

OMG I about died when I read this thread. This past Sunday morning 9/24 I was in my RCIA classes at our Catholic Church. It's 6 months work of classes toward conversion to Catholisim.

SO what kills me is that the Theologeion they brought in to talk to us read this EXACT scripture. He was discussing it more in reference to the fact that Christ loves us and he loves the Church. So we need to get in touch with that brother and tell him he is full of crap.

I was really drifting off in classes thinking about how much education the gentleman speaking had at age 35 compared to Elders, DO, CO's. The bullshit they spout from the platform is so uneducated and misguided. This man has his PHD in religion and was just really great to listen to.

And what I also noticed was how nice it was to have someone speak and educate from the bible (yep it was a Catholic setting and they used the bible!) on a level that was interesting and informative.
