Atheism 2.0

apologies if this has been posted before or even discussed.. this ted talk gets at the heart of what atheism is missing and my wife an di discussed this for a long time last night.

in short religion provides a framework for meeting, for ritual, for art, education and sociality.

without this framework atheism can seem lonely harsh and certainly disorganised (the general idea that education and culture can replace the gap may well be true but without a formal structure the route to personal mental fulfillment is somewhat piecemeal and patchwork.

I'm not projecting...there ARE atheists who would like to see "God talk" silenced or killed as if we who speak it were their enemies. Christians are told we should pray for those who make themselves our enemies in this way. it is the GB of JW's who have made it accepted practice to have their adherents seperate the sheep from the goats (in the absence of divine authority) dependant on acceptance of their particular interpretation.

you can go back and take a look at my first post on this thread to get a better idea of where I'm coming from if you'd like.

hint: I will continue to use the gospel(my faith) in the bible as a defence...(And if you, O listener, have any doubt in what We have sent down towards you, then question those who have read the Book before you; undoubtedly, towards you has come the truth from your Lord, therefore do not be of those who doubt) surah 10:94

i was following some links researching something to do with my condition when i came across this article by the well known christian author john piper called "don't waste your cancer".. if i had still been a christian when i got my diagnosis i would have been subjected to these sort of pious platitudes.

the spirit resides within the soul/body...they aren't three distinct "things"...

the soul/body can be either physical or spiritual as evidenced by Jesus in His pre and post resurrection "being"...He is the soul/body named Jesus.(1 vessel)

the spirit can be either alive toward God or dead toward God while existing within this (physical or spiritual) soul/body.(1 spirit)

it is because of the "union" with our soul/body with the ONE Spirit of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) that the intellect of our soul (spirit) becomes alive toward God (colossians 2:11-13)

of course...and atheists seem to believe that the idea of God as well as the theists you deal with are your enemy and that the whole "God thing" ought to be put to rest, permanently...let me just say that your biggest enemy isn't in the "free world". the day of vengeance that God talks about in the bible is not vengeance against those who listen to God through His word or are His children through His Son. No, the day of vengeance is against those who would hurt these.

The LORD has made bare His holy arm

ok then...when reading the NT for further truth it appears that our "soul/being" can walk around whether it is a physical body or a spirit body...(Jesus, man, angels, demons)...and our spirit within our "soul" can be alive toward God or dead toward God...all this happens in this earthly "realm", even those who are made alive in the spirit are made alive toward God in the earthly "realm". love michelle

the genesis account does reflect the notion that God created man ON earth of the dust of the earth. you would have to INJECT a distinction into the account in order to confirm your dogma. you say he could traverse "both" at that time; like you're biased toward the idea that two DIFFERENT "realms" are eluded to. So, what do you mean when you say, "in any case"?...

in genesis 2 it says that God created man on the earth and then in genesis 2:15 God took him to the garden of eden(2:8-14) to tend and keep it...why would God create man on physical earth and then take him to a different "realm"?

when A&E were driven from the garden there is no evidence that they "died spiritually" in the sense that you have implied. The bible does say that the human spirit is dead toward God OR alive toward God (through Jesus Christ).

One can die(physically) in their sins(john 8:24), which wouldn't BE or MEAN anything if the spirit is "dead" without Jesus Christ.

what do you think it means when the sea gives up the dead who were in it...and they were judged, each one according to their works? rev 20:13
