Never did. My parents did. In fact, it was on a bus trip to Brooklyn "Bethel" when my mother died of a massive brain aneurysm.

Proof of God or Christ without a holy book
by Awen inin some previous posts i have asked certain questions that still haven't been answered.
so without going back to those threads and possibly de-railing them i thought it best to make a new topic.
please bear with me.. i have asked certain ones to prove the existence of god or christ without referencing any biblical writings or characters.

@ XJW4EVR The comments about the Bible not being reliable have come from others on these forums. I have noticed a certain disparity myself.
Jeremiah 8:8 ""'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?"
The verse seems to indicate that there are things written in the Torah (by the scribes) that are false and Jeremiah is calling the scribes out on it.
Now I am sure I could get this same view if I simply read one out of context bible verse, which is the basis of our past training from the WTB&TS. Fortunately, I have educated myself and realized that there are better ways to understand the bible than that. Namely, reading the context of the single verse.
According to the full context of chapter 8, it appears that Jeremiah 8:8 is not refering to a corrupted version of the Torah or the Tanakh. The very next verse, clearly tells us what the real issue is. That the scribes have "rejected the word of Yahweh"! It is because of this rejection of "the word of Yahweh" that has caused the scribes interpretations of God's law to be false. This is why Jeremiah states that the scribes "handled it (Torah) falsely)."
Further, Jeremiah uses a Hebrew word (sheh-ker)that is not translated in the sense of textual corruption or anything similar, but rather as "deception" or "falsehood" (Cf. Jeremiah 9:5; 23:26). This view is also supported by Kiel & Delitzsch, who said, "...[S]uch persons, by false interpretation and application, perverted the truth of the law into a lie, he calls their work the work of the lying style (pen)" (Kiel, C.F. & Delitzsch, F. (2002) Commentary on the Old Testament. (Vol. 7, page 645). Peabody, MA: Hendrickson).

Abraham convinces Jehovah not to blow up Sodom....why is God such an Angry Bastard who needs advice?
by Witness 007 inin genesis jehovah tells abraham he's going to nuke sodom off the map, but the more reasonable then god abraham says "please jehovah do not get hot with anger with me, but what if three men who are good ae found in sodom....." etc etc.
so here we have a god being given good, merciful advice from his servant abraham.....personally i would rather worship abraham, praise his holy name...jehovah can burn in hell!!!!

Witness007 seems to be suffering from Dawkinsitis. It affects the occular nerve so that when reading the Bible, there is selective reading and causesthe reader to create strawmen in the form of emotional rants of no substance.

This is important because it has been stated ad nauseum that the Bible isn't a reliable source of information about God (as many lies have been told) and therefore shouldn't be used.
Really? How did you come to this conclusion? Please don't feed me links to others writings. I am asking YOU how YOU came to this conclusion. -

Are you sick of conspiracy nuts?.....9/11
by Witness 007 inyes apparently the staff at the twin towers on 9/11 didn't notice the explosives strapped to all the beams on each floor......of course a plane fully loaded with jet fuel going so fast it nearly flew through the building {blew out the otherside} would not be enough to cause a collapse.
the building were glowing red!
people jumped due to the heat and smoke.

What bothers me the most about "truthers" is the cultish manner in which they dismiss those that have looked at their evidence and concluded differently. We are told that we stick our heads in the sand, or up our asses. This is what makes me label "truthers" as a cult, and to dismiss their claims out of hand.
Do you "truthers" really understand just how J-Dub you sound?

I have been talking to a 20-year veteran cold case detective about conspiracies. He has stated repeatedly that once you understand how conspiracies work, you understand that there is no way that 9/11 was a conspiracy. He then pointed out how quickly the Lincoln assassination conspiracy was broken. It's all about the number of conspirators (the best conspiracy is a conspiracy of one), the amount of time from the conspired deed to the present, and the physical distance between the conspirators.
The amount of people required to be "in the know" on 9/11 is unmanagable. We are now ten years removed from the events, and still no one is coming forward. There is too much distance between the four planes, the three buidlings, and the field in PA.
Please note that I do believe in conspiracies, but the sheer amount of evidence that I have seen only supports the fact that four jets were hijaked and flown into buildings at high rates of speed or crashed. My mind is made up based in the evidence I have seen.

Hey Christians
by free2beme indoes it bother you thinking that you are saved and others are damned?.
-
XJW4EVR
Yes, that is why I share my faith with others. In the end, however, God will be perfectly just in saving some, and allowing others to face His eternal wrath.
