Lost rocks! They were losing me due to the inordinant amount of reruns, however last night's episode hooked me again.
By far the best show, and more intelligent of shows on TV right now.

i think back at some of the simpler things we couldn't do or have because we were a witness.
i hardly know my father's (worldly) side of the family.
didn't know my grandfather, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins.

College Education-I am a 38 year old working on getting a BA.
now that i've read ray franz's part about how his uncle and others with little actual greek or hebrew training translated the bible into the nwt, i've been interested in finding the best bible out there is correctly translated by people who know what the hell they are talking about.
niv?
i've also been looking at other religions lately, ones that are "somewhat" close to the jw's teachings to an extent, and have been interested in seventh day adventists.
There is no absolutely accurate translation. The "most accurate" is the New American Standard. The most readable are the New International Version & The Living Translation. The most easily memorizable is the King James.
These are all my opinions, but they are based on 15 years of Bible reading & study.

no.. i vote we refer always to borg victims as "witlesses" from now on.. this is to draw attention to the fact that many of them are unwittingly deceived.. to alert others not yet ensnared that they are being witless or unwitting in accepting so much on so little real evidence.. that those who stay in the borg after reading the overwhelming evidence presented to them are witless.. jws, unlike any mature religion, cannot tell jokes about themselves.
jews, catholics all do it.
I don't agree with the blanket catagorization of "Witless." Most are not, and there sound psychological and evidentiary reasons for the non blanket application.
However, when they have been presented the overwhelming evidence and they still stay for reasons other than family, then yes, the "Witless" moniker should be applied.
in their quest to assemble the right ingredients to win a super bowl, the carolina panthers might have found the key.. that's wide receiver keyshawn johnson, who the panthers believe might be enough to boost their offense to the next level.
johnson and the panthers agreed to terms on a contract late thursday night after meeting for much of the day.
the deal is for four years and includes $5 million in signing bonus money.. a press conference to officially announce the signing is expected on friday.. johnson seemingly would help solve one of last season's biggest problems.
So again we see that the key to the Super Bowl is a former member of the University of Southern California!

i was just wondering how many of you might have joined the organization to placate family members .
i can say as a teen i was baptized for the sole purpose of quieting my father .
how about you did you do it for the fear of losing family members
I didn't join, but I stayed in longer than I should have to placate family.
.
imagine, if it was possible, if you could go back in time, some 20 or 30 or even 50 years in the past, and telling the witnesses back then, that by 2006, absolutely nothing the watchtower predicted would happen.
what do you think would have been their reaction?
The same blank stare that you get when you show them the incriminating evidence of their past today.
i played a role in a convention drama when i was 14. it was a really poxy modern day drama.
something about catching my bigger brother puffing on a cigarette lol.
i had to practice the part for months in a dogey american accents.
I was in numerous parts, but mostly in demonstrations or the faux Daily Text. You know the ones where the JW family actually sits down for breakfast to review the day's text. The last one I was in will be recounted in My Story. It should be a hoot.
in my latest post in my story, i recounted how my dad and another elder made attendance at high school sports events a no-no.
in retrospect, i don't recall anything in print that made attendance at local sporting events a shepherding offense.
maybe my memory is faulty.. did your boe make rules like this?.

As an aside, can anyone direct me in how to get the WT library CD?
according to watchtower doctrines "apostates" who have left the jw club will not be resurrected when they die.
if an "apostate" dies before armageddon then how can he or she fulfill philippians 2:9-11?.
phil 2:9-11 for this reason god also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of jesus every knee should bow of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue should confess that jesus christ is lord, to the glory of god the father.. i strongly suspect the watchtower's answer to this question would be revised many times as "new light" becomes available.. any ideas on how us "apostates" will bend our knees and confess with our tongues if we aren't going to be resurrected?
First, nowhere in this Scripture is it taught that every person shall bow & confess. The passage states should bow & confess. In the Greek this is called a hina clause, and it indicates a moral obligation to do something. There is no obligating shall taught in this verse
Second, I don't think that anywhere in the Scriptures is it taught that non-believers will ever bow & confess.
