so, what's everybody reading these days?.
i used to read so passionately, but i've lost the hobby due to everyday life stress and distractions.
i want to get back into reading again.
Just finished Five for silver (John the Eunuch mystery) by Mary Reed and Eric Mayer
I don't usually like collaborations, but this was pretty good (Although I liked Stephen King's collaboration with Peter Straub when they did the Talisman)
I am reading A monstrous regiment of women, by Laurie R. King. She is a mystery writer who has a great series about a female cop in San Fransisco. The book I am reading now is about a student of Sherlock Holmes, Mary Russell(the author pretends that Mary Russell was a real person, but I don't think it is meant to be historically accurate). I am also a sucker for Robert B. Parker and his Spenser and Sunny Randall series. I tried to read a John Sandford book recently. but it bored me to tears and that is the first book I have not finished in a long time. Oooh, I also like Jan Burke and Mike Connelly.
I also just read Dean Koontz' new book, The Taking. It was great, but I love Dean Koontz, so perhaps I am biased.
For all those out there who like mystery/suspense novels, I found a great website: www.stopyourekillingme.com
It lists authors and their books and you can look up books by their main or recurring characters.
Cheers

i rated very high.
any takers?.
kls, Hmm.......interesting.
I once had this Dodge Neon whose radio didn't work. Only, sometimes, I would be driving along, and the radio would just turn on! And then others times, the radio would turn on and then when I turned the car OFF, the radio would still be ON. It totally creeped me out the first time it happened.

According to the test I am moderately psychic. They suggest I buy a dream interpretation book.
Question: Did anyone answer yes to #17 about dishes breaking on their own when you are mad? I am just curious. I sometimes wish I could do that. Then maybe people would take me seriously when I get mad. Of course, I would also like to have the ability to just think about the broom and dust pan and have all those telekinetically broken dishes cleaned up.

i liked frannie's question but i like this one even more!.......so are ya?
?
Heeeeeeere's Johnny!!!!!!
(have just been reading about The Shining)
I don't think I am psycho, a little neurotic, but not psycho.
I do know a few people who are very much rubber-room ready: There's a woman I know who got mad at her ex-husband and spread feces from her son's diaper all over his (the husband's)bedroom. She has done other weird stuff but the feces was the topper, IMHO.

the new time magazine has a story called "the god gene", which suggests that the need for god is built into our genes, and may have possibly evolved.
wouldn't that be ironic?
anyhow, here's the quiz.
Highly skeptical am I. Go figure.

i read many "apostate" books before i left the "truth".
mentally, i was drifting away for years.
but i do think that the internet really made it easy to see all the evidence that overwhelmingly showed jws do not have the "truth".....was the 'net instrumental in getting you out?
The internet didn't help me get out ( I got out several years before I was online), but it did make me feel better to discover things that reinforced my reasons for leaving and helped me in the recovery process.

.
i'm thinking about dressing as martha stewart.
.
If I do dress up, I am going to dress up as Grace O'Malley, the Irish pirate ;)
Last year on Halloween, it was so COLD, that rather walking around the neighborhood with my nieces, I drove with the heater on high and blankets in the backseat so that they could warm up between houses.
I love Halloween.

it has been a long time since i opened a bible but these questions keep coming up in my head so i thought i would ask our all knowing here.
according to the bible adam & eve ate the forbidden fruit and became embarrassed of their bodies so they covered up.
this makes no sense since they had been naked and where having sex so why were they embarrassed?
Willy,
According to the fairy tale, they were perfect, they didn't have any flaws.
KLS--I just finished a book called Leaving Eden by Ann Chamberlin--it's her fictional take on the story of Adam and Eve. Very interesting story. It also involves Lilith as a sort of Earth Mother/Goddess/demon. Ms. Chamberlin's story made more sense to me than the account in Genesis.

let's talk about how sexist the borg is:.
only men can give talks.
only men can be elders.
the WTS dont want venomous harridans embarrassing simple minded janitor elders, and taking over the org. i wonder how the org would be if women were in control?
PD, I have a feeling that if women were in overt control, there wouldn't be an organization Sexism in the "borg" is one of the biggest reasons I left. Just thinking about all the repression and tryanny toward women makes me maaaaad Bethany
