Thoughts on God? Hmm.....

Not so sure if there really is a god. Since I left the JW's have become an "evoluntionist" and the idea of Supreme being doesn't make much sense to me anymore

If there is a God, think he is pretty sick f*ck to allow so many horrible things to happen to so many people and sometimes these things happen in "his" name

If there is a God, think we are probably his play things

Never bought into the idea that he kept us around to prove something. If he is all knowing, all seeing, all whatever, he could have swatted Satan to another dimension and started over on us "flawed" humans

But....I'm not jaded, really

How does Jehovah's direction differ from pulling it out of your *ss

the doctor examines the patient and prescribes a powerfully effective medicine.. the pharmacist dispenses the medication according to the prescription.. the patient takes the medicine according to the label directions.. the above is a three step process.

easy analogy to understand.

we've all had to visit the doctor and get medicine at one time or another.. now i want to examine this process and use the analogy as a model for understanding how the governing body dispenses "truth" from jehovah to the congregations of jehovah's witnesses as his mouthpiece and "prophetic" voice.. in the 1950's doctors began prescribing a medicine called thalidomide.

Excellent analogy Terry! Also, Gumby--you make a good point about the GB. It would seem impossible to me that at least some of them do not know about the fallacy. But, if they do know and won't/can't/don't do anything about it--shame on them. It can't be that Ray Franz was the only one to escape--maybe some have tried and they have been "gotten rid of". **shudder** But seriously, I suppose that they probably feel pretty trapped---for so many people in the org., especially those in a position of power, the WTBTS is their life, the only thing they know. Not so sure if that is really a good excuse though.

my emotions are a roller coaster

when i first got on this site a few days ago i felt so much relief and joy.

i was even trying to help others right away because i have been out for ten years already.

now i am finding that other people's comments and memories are bringing up so many of my own that i have suppressed for years.

It's obvious that many of us have had similar feelings. :) I left the "borg" about 8 years ago and exploring my way around this forum has brought back some memories and also led me to remember things that I had repressed. I thought I had left it all behind, but apparently, I still have some things to work out. It can be very emotional, but leaving the JW's can be pretty traumatic too You can be as open as you want to be. No one really expects you to bare your soul. But, if you want to do that, I am pretty confident that the people around here will embrace you with open arms.

PS--the first week after I was turned on to this place, I got absolutely NOTHING done at work. I contracted a pretty serious case of JWDitis and still haven't gotten over it !

Peering into my past - Snippets from my early life

i was going through my things the other day and i came across a journal i used to keep at quite a young age.

the mentality there is just scary.

i was quite the budding writer with my big words but can you see all the canned thoughts and phrases lifted from the dubs and dropped into my grammar and writing style.

JWD's growth rate trounces that of the JWs

i signed up on december 15. i am member 11210. members signing up the middle of this month were in the mid 14400's.

that means in 8 months, we've had about 3200 additional people show up.

SNG--Rural territory was my favorite to work. Lots of space between the houses. I used to wait until we did some local territory and then tell the car group leader (or whatever weird thing they called them) that I had some return visits out in the rural territory. The more hardcore JW's didn't want to waste time driving around so I would take my friends back to the KH and then we would ditch service and go have lunch. There were usually the standard objections about sisters working alone out there......

Guess I should have explained the "air-posting" thing to start with :)

It makes ya a little nauseated to read some of that, doesn't it? I was cleaning out some closets and found a box of journals I had kept (been keeping a journal since age 16) and I read through the journal from the period of time when I was DF'd and it was just amazing how up and down my emotions were. And I was so lonely! Reading through it made my hurt and I realized that I never ever wanted to feel like that again!

logans post on undies brought up something that i can't understand,,,,,,,what is with that little tuff of hair guys have under their bottom lip, it drives me crazy .

my son has it and i tell him he missed a spot shaving, is it supposed to look cool or what?

i can be a room and see this guy from afar and think ,you have food on your mouth or a huge cold sore.

My brother had a little "soul patch" and his guitarist Dusty decided to grow one, but Dusty is blond, so it looks stranger looks like his face is a bit grotty-my brother now calls him "dirt face"

Have we become the "Spammers" of religion?

i mean i get tons of spam and just dismiss it without a glance.. is this pretty much what people do to us at the door these days?

or when starting on some "witness" do people tune out just like it's "religious spam"?.

in short does door to door = spam in the mailbox?

It's possible. I have pop-up blockers and spam filters--and still get spam on some of my accounts--aren't JW's kind of the same? They still call on people who have "no soliciting" signs and have told them before that they're not interested.
