Farewell to a Friend part 2

someone i cared for has taken her own life.

things between us were not the best lately even though i cared for her deeply, we last parted on bad terms and there wasnt ever closure.

and please, dont ever think it is too late to change the person you see in the mirror every day.

I do hope others in a similar frame of mind as your loved one was will take courage from your words. And I hope those thinking of returning to the WTBTS will heed the warnings they find here as to the faith-destroying, soul-destroying, life-destroying power this organization wields.Get out of "her", my people, while you can...

My Co-Worker's Story

my co-worker has a daughter who is married to a lapsed jw.

he is disfellowshipped for adultery, but she has chosen to stay with him for reasons imperceptible to the rest of the universe.

he met her in high school, and she made it clear that she was not interested in his religion.

i have had a really bad bout of flu, and was out of circulation for over two weeks.

For me this teaching that they were chosen by Jesus way back when itself hinges on proving that Christ actually came invisibly and that they were not among those false prophets who were declaring when he would come (no one was supposed to know ahead of time) or that he had already come unbeknownst to the majority of people (since he said his parousia would be obvious to everyone). Is there a non-circular answer for that?

Brand New Blood Card

hubby has just come back from the service meeting where they have been handed out brand new style blood cards, now called 'advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment' .

it's quite a bit different.

and has the line on it about giving permission to the hospital liason committee to see your notes and medical records.. very scary stuff i think, and i certainly wont be filling one in.. i'm really short of time tonight, but will scan it in, along with the notes that go with it and try and post it some time over the next day or so if someone else doesn't beat me to it!.
