just so i don't miss anybody who is interested.... my results from the ekg and the echogram showed a severe leak in a heart valve.
i am going for an angiogram on the 15th but the cardiologist says the liklihood is great that i will need open heart surgery.
rare for a 30 year old but if necessary, it is necessary.. no word yet on the results of the blood work for liver enzymes and hepatitis.

I've never heard any long-time resident from SoCal call California "Cali."
Because some of us native SoCalians are incredulous that there is a "Cal" outside the "So"
Andee
Second generation Californian with relatives that believe the Oregon border starts after Bakersfield.
And not ALL of them are Dubs either!
i just wanted to share a few things that are on my heart and mind...hope you don't mind reading.
the church i'm affiliated with has several sister churches around the world.
the purpose of those relationships is to encourage and help each other grow in our relationship with god and christ, whether it be by spiritual encouragement or physical help.
Wow! Andi!
Good for you! I can't wait to read about your trip.
Wishing you a great trip and a safe return!

The following comments are like many I read on this board when it comes to some of the superior smugness from certain former JWs.
A recent thread started:
"If you have a successful career this will surely take time away from the
meetings. Can you simplify your life?.Perhaps choose a career that does
not take so much time and devotion. Like a janitor? You say you are too good
to be a janitor?..That shows lack of humility..And we know how Jehovah feels about
Pridful people......anyon ever been told this? "
Responses:
So cleaning dirty toilets will save you?
Signed- NOT A JANITOR-lol
I told them that I was raised "poor white trash" and there was no way in hell I was going to live the rest of my life like that. Sad to say though, I did work as a Janitor for an elder. He owned a janitorial company full of JW.
Jehovah would bless him with a mindless job either pushing a broom, pumping gas, or cleaning windows.
While I understand the anger many former JWs have with being discouraged from seeking higher education and how it may affect their life circumstances now. Yet, I getting annoyed with the atmosphere on this forum that menial labor jobs are mindless, less important, or that the people that DO those jobs are stupid, trashy, and on a lower rung in society.
Now, I am absolutely in favor of a college or university degree(s) for those that want it. And I find it appalling that JWs are discouraged from furthering their education so that they spend more time supporting WTS. And also how the unspoken message is This is will make Jehovah happy and theres better chance that I will survive Armageddon. Plus there is the status within the cong itself.
So, heres a little mind exercise for those of you that were able to rise above being a lowly janitor.
Imagine the prospect of having to place your ample (or not so ample) posterior on a filthy public toilet. Im willing to bet that suddenly the job of janitor, and its importance, would become strikingly apparent.
Andee
P.S. No, Im not a janitor, nor am I married to one.
yesterday, was, for my youngest son, the day that he re-commenced his fitness training in preparation for the start of the football season.
however, his car is laid up, the engine having objected to the extremes that had been demanded of it since number 3 son took over it's reins.. so ben pleaded with hl to be taken to winscombe, a distance of around 10 miles.
on the way there, the cunning little menace mournfully mentioned that he would not be able to get back home, please, mum, pretty please, will you drive back out and pick me up?.
LOL! @ E-man and Her Ladyship!
I must admit I am guilty of the "driving-in-my-jammies" (Actually, I have my robe on) sometimes when I take my kids to school. A few times I still have my hair wrapped in a towel after showering. Just didn't get up early enough that morning to dry my hair first.
The thought has occurred to me "what if I get a flat tire, or the car breaks down"? Yikes! Now, that would be embarrassing attempting to explain my attire and having the passing cars get a chuckle.
I'm sure I will have to make more of an effort to be properly dressed in the morning. My daughter is only a couple of years off from being a teenager and I remember how I HATED it when MY MOTHER, at that age, took me to school wearing her robe!
Andee
is this just my misconception, or is the "friends" forum constantly being misused as a place to post anything and everything that someone wants to be "noticed?
" some threads i've seen recently that seem to blatantly ignore the fact that this site contains various forums:.
are all men bad?.
Hey Spider,
The "Friends" forum was formerly the "Main" forum. Simon changed it a few months ago. The same complaint was made then also.
Yes, Friends is the catch-all, if you will.
Some believe that their threads get a much better chance of being read if they are placed in the "friends" forum , formerly known as the "Main" forum. Old habits die hard.
Whatever.

Ice Cubes, the fist sized American kind, and plenty of them, for your 32oz drink
I recall a dear friend of mine relating to me the frustration she felt, when visiting Europe, that her sodas were not served with icecubes. They had to be specifically requested, to her suprise.
what do americans in general actually really know about the big outside world outside of their own culture?.
it's certainly not just me, but for years since early childhood in fact, it has been commonly accepted by many, that americans in general are the biggest ignorant fools residing almost anywhere on the planet, yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are.
is it even beyond their comprehension how foolish they look often to the rest of the world, the fact that they have so little understanding of problems on the worldwide front?.
Americans on average might not know the capital of Turkey
*Raising hand*
I know! I know! It's Ankara!
Well, I never have been average.
