  Irresponsible Parents!

  i know i'm going to get a few "you're an asshole" responses but bear with and read and than decide if i performened a greater good or wrong.. situation:.

  i'm driving down the main road to my side street.

  i have some retard mom driving a mini-van following me with an 8-10 year old child in the front seat.. i approach a stop light (red) and this bitch (irresponsible parent) riding my ass.

  Was I wrong for doing this? - NO. I have every right to stop my car when, where, and as fast as I want.

  You are kiddin me, right? RIGHT?!

  I read both your posts and I must say, more pompous pieces of bleating prose I have not read in a long time.

  Fact: You were not sure if the kid was wearing a seat belt.

  Fact: You deliberately hit your brakes "hard", not because you needed to avoid some hazard or other situation that may have endangered you. No! You merely wanted to each this "bitch" lesson. Translation: INTENT to cause damage or harm.

  So, when you willfully hit the brakes you also knew, KNEW, that you may be further endangering this child. This child is an INNOCENT, capish?

  Was the Mother wrong not buckling up her child? Yes, of course. She was endangering her child. And you, YES YOU, further endangered him with you asinine little stunt. The safety of a child, ANY CHILD, overrides your "right" to brake any time the notion pops into that head of yours. You have a responsibility to consider the best interest of that boy, even when you are angry with the Mother.

  Well, hey! Next time I'm driving and I see a kid playing in the street, I will hit the accelerator! That will teach the bitch Mom a lesson for letting her kid play in the street! Yeah! I might even save a life!

  Earthquake in Manchester !

  there was a quake here at 9:00 this morning and just now (12:30) the building i am in has been shaken ... the chair i am on was actually moved back and forth by it several times and you could feel yourself being swayed back and forth.

  i'm on the second floor of a 4 story building.

  I've been in so many earthquakes that I forget how frightening they are to someone who has never experienced one. Living in Southern California, they are just apart of everyday life. I've been at the center of one that was 5.9. Hit early in the morning while I was still sleeping. Years of drills at school and warnings on the TV, once I realized what was going on, I immediately jumped out of bed and ran to the nearest doorway and braced myself.

  I also experienced the 1987 Whittier earthquake when I was in the hospital. Now, mind you, I was on the very top floor and the hospital is build on springs. The springs allow the building to move "with" the earthquake. Thus, it is less likely there will be damage or that the building will fall. Unfortunately, it also exaggerates the shaking and movement. The nurse was just getting ready to stick a needle in my arm to draw some blood when the building starts to jerk and sway. We look at each other and rush to the doorway. Next thing I know, the nurse is screaming and clinging to ME for dear life.

  Hoping that no one was hurt across the pond.

  I can tell you that you are not going to be getting much good news from the posters, here, regarding your situation. Marriages between JWs and NonJws are extremely difficult. Especially, if the man is the witness. Males, are taught that they are, indeed, superior to females and that they are to be in submission to them.

  My advice to you is NOT TO GET MARRIED until you research the JWs thoroughly and read carefully many of the responses you are bound to get to your post. Marriage under any circumstances is a very serious matter, but when it involves a JW it is doubly serious. I can imagine you are being pressured quite strongly to "convert".

  In the end, though, unless you want to become a JW, you will have to end this relationship.

  I love watching movies

  the family and the Turkey." And I reply, "Yeah, that is so right. There's so much
  celebrating that you missed out on as JW. Don't spoil it for yourself! Enjoy!"

  I think there are many things that have origins that weren't necessarily "positive" in the beginning, but how we celebrate them now I think is much more important.

  It makes me think of two things:

  1. Engagement rings. I watch something on the History Channel some time back and they stated that the custom of woman receiving an engagement ring was with the understanding if the marriage was not to come to pass, she would keep the ring as "payment" for her loss. I guess if the guy had to invest that kind of money, he was more inclined to marry the girl. But, we certainly don't view engagement rings that way, now. And even if the guy backs out of the marriage, the woman is expected to return the ring.

  2. The term: "Rule of Thumb". A seemingly benign set of words meant to mean: A method of procedure based on experience and common sense. The origin? Well, it comes from old English law where a man was within his "rights" to beat his wife. Just as long as the stick he used was no thicker than his thumb.

  So, I say...carve a great big jack-o'-lantern and gorge yourself on turkey!

  Don't sweat it.

  I know you meant it as a joke. Actually, I have seen similiar "maps" and got quite a laugh out of them.There is certainly a grain of truth to them. I tend to be the type that can laugh at myself and some of the oddities about the country to which I am a citizen. A place that I dearly love and at the same time can be highly critical.

  Interesting little tidbit: My kid has been invited to be a student ambassador to Australia next summer. Nothing is finalized yet, but we have been spending much time learning about the geography and culture of our Aussie friends. I guess I'm a little tired of being stereotyped as the "Ignorant American".

  Take enough potshots and the giant is gonna hit back.

  it is clear that the evolutionist is so tied to his religion that he cannot think objectively - so here i issue a challenge of a general nature.

  let us develop a focussed discussion in which we agree ahead of time which sub-topic of this noxious subject we address first.. i will take the liberty of suggesting the following:.

  given the almost inevitable and immediate degeneration that debates about creation and evolution seem to descend into, how about we address the sociological aspects first - to clear the ground, as it were: how would you feel (whether creationist or apostate evolutionist dog) if incontravertible evidence emerged that the "other" side was actually right?
