Too rich Richie!
Hey what if it really is spirit directed and you have a covert "mission" to accomplish in there?
Okay, not a good attempt at blowing smoke up someone else's a$$, but I tried to do it in honour of the master RR.
i don't have much time but... .
i met with the elders, and they restored all my priviledges!!!!.
haha!!!

does any one know where the jah-jireh webs sites, the sites that deal with the jw retirement homes have gone?.
i've been interested in them for a while, (with my age and that) but they've disappeared from the web!.
does anyone know why they might have come of, been taken off, disappeared from the net.. the only reference i can find to them is a list of retirement homes with a religious bent.. thanks all!.
Well it doesn't have its own web site, but there's still a Jah-Jireh retirement home in Beamsville, ON. Add: 4505 30 Rd. Tel: ( 905)-563-5495
And I know there's a waiting list of local elderly dubs trying to get in.
.....so if gifts of prophecying were done away with, maybe the society did not read this scripture.......maybe this is the reason they are always wrong.
i wonder how a witness would explain this scripture.
[edited to add - forgive me for my cynicism and bitterness in this post...I actually went to JW meeting tonight and am in a mood]
Well it makes sense that those verses could have been inserted later on to suit the purposes of those trying to gain the rank and file. And I'd say it was a pretty rational move too.
Movements stressing the Paraclete and prophesying would be challenges to the proto-orthodox authority. Imagine if a whole bunch of dubs tried to claim they were receiving new light? But with this notion, the church leaders could say that any dissenting views that came from those caliming "spirit direction" were just gibberish/uninspired.
so now that you've left the cult, have you ever given or taken blood?
have your opinions and/ or beliefs in this area changed?
much to my suprise, one of my very good freinds who is not out still feels the way he was trained to feel.
I've given it once (I'm O negative), but relatively speaking, that was alot of volume outta me. I think its wonderful to be able to help in this way.
As for receiving it, while I have no religious objections, I still have some reservations, due to my paranoia over possible hepatitis/HIV contamination. I know its highly unlikely now, so I'd take the blood and my chances.

i'll add this to my 2005 corolla and i'll get my new 2006 corolla on thursday... .
It was $1,900 CDN. I traded in one car for another and the dealer wanted the difference in cash.
are you morally obligated to kill him?
what would you do?
Does he have to be killed to prevent him from seizing power? Maybe (knowing history and how Hitler played on the circumstances) one could pre-empt him and take power instead? Then make your own vision of an Uber-Utopia.
[Edited to add - No eugenics! And it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a short hairy guy.]
.
ok, i keep coming across vague references to jw fear of these,.
please explain what are the actual factual stories,.
I loved hearing various JW smurf legends (at the time I was near/in my early teens)! The most common ones were a smurf doll saying something rude in the KH and dolls moving by themselves in a kid's room or house. In my particular congregation, one kid said he saw two smurf dolls "humping", as we called it back then, but as far as I know, that story never caught on.
well, i'm finally back before my usual computer after a few weeks away.
not all of it fun, but some of it pleasant though.. however jwd was on my mind and i've been thinking of many online friends here -- especially ian (dansk) and mario (utopianreformist).
sometimes i managed to get updates from public internet access.. to be true, i've been around for a couple of days now and read a few topics (some very interesting), but strangely i didn't feel like engaging in biblical, theological or philosophical discussions as i used to do.
Hope the break did wonders for you. See how many of us missed you?
I only took the mandatory French so I hope I don't say something totally whacked, but here goes: Bienvenue! Je suis tres content que tu es retourne.
this topic is a spin-off of another, but i'd like to hear people's opinions.. since the witnesses spew numerous biblical passages which seem to justify their beliefs and practices, who's exactly to blame for their less-than-human approach to life?
what laws do the jws live by that are not justified in some way by the judeo-christian bible?
is shunning justified in the scriptures?
I think the two work synergistically. For practical life, the Bible does have some laudable principles of universality, mercy and charity. But there's also alot of familiar narrow-mindedness and backwardness too. In a way, the compilation reflects the good and the bad in us, and depending on what a person is inclined towards they can select bits of the book to convince themselves further of their having it "right".

I'll admit that when I first glanced over the threads and caught this one's title, I skipped over it, but later on, I noticed it was you who started it ,and I just had to see what you wrote. Reams of intertestamental and extracanonical writings are a sure sign that I'll have to devote alot of time but it's always payed off. Thank You very much for this 2for1 - covering this particular topic and the lesson on proper exegesis.
