  I know I've heard that "true experience" a couple of times before even among the english. I'm saddened that alot of italian publishers were clapping their hands at that! At least, I can't say I recall any english people clapping at it..

  P.S. Anal detail: by the way the speaker was pronouncing some words, i wouldn't say Italian was his first language...more spanish, but he still speaks impressively well and i couldn't hold a candle to it.

  faders....was it not fun reducing your magazine order over and over?

  as i went out less and less and less.......i loved the look on the bro at the magazine counter when i said i need three fewer or whatever.....after i did this a few times he said "yeah...several others have had to do the same"......and then i noticed that not only did i bring a huge stack of "back issues" into the hall and place them on the counter when nobody was looking......but there was already a pile there......then i just started trashing them........ahhh.......those were they days...............

  As far as I was concerned, I could care less about cutting down the quota. Its the only thing that hurts the Borg....bleeding their resources without any chance of them getting something from it.

  To Fade or Not To Fade... An Opinion.....

  just a couple of set of ground rules i would like to set for this.

  frequently, one of two options for those who want to leave jw's are 1) a purposeful, public, resignation (or disassociation as jw's call it) vs 2) what is commonly called in the ex jw internet world, "the fade".

  i know that emotions run deep on this subject for good reason, because of what is at stake, and all that is perceived to be lost.

  I've acknowledged this about myself fairly early on in this board (well JWD actually) and I'll agree that I can be classed a "faker". This takes a huge toll on you not just on indivuakity but on self-worth. How good can you feel about yourself if you know you're a fake? A hypocrite?

  Living as a hypocrite for any period of time makes it easier to do. No real nobility or honour in becoming that kind of a person.

  I like Narkissos' point about defining ourselves as part of a group or against one. I think alot of us faders/fakers are more ensnared by this actually being how our jw family assess themselves..."The World" against them. The WT pretty much fosters that mindset. Like some wahabi followers would divide the planet into the "House of War" vs "the House of Submission"

  We're constrained to feign being part of the group or they'd never look at us again. I wonder just how faders are "selfish" though?

  Believe me, if you knew how little my family had, you'd know I'm not putting up with any of this garbage for an inheritance.

  so be careful.......there may be one out of ten.....or a hundred or a thousand......... and even the unreal one was pretty real....but had major issues..............oomps.

  we are a very small club......compared to udders..........

  I've met only a handful of posters face to face, but thats because of my own paranoid tendency to keep myself unknown. The ones I met (even a couple of times) were genuine and really friendly and accepting. I was even invited to a party, but I declined for a couple of reasons. One is because I feared pictures would inevitably get out onto the web and another is that one of the attendees would know me and although she'd very likely keep things mum, stuff would get out. I'm trying to fade without getting DF'ed.

  I think fakers are the exception. Maybe a few blowhards and those who exaggerate some of their life's drama. And there was only one poster who seemed overly curious in trying to get a few people's real names.

  I've checked where it said I had two new pms but my inbox has only showed 2 pages worth (yeah, yeah people I know thats extremely few) and the last one about 8 months ago.

  Any others having this kind of trouble? I'm using Firefox 3.04 on Fedora 10.

  I've had him. His wife was an intelligent women and I thought she was rather genuine, to me anyways.

  Goriup was an enigma at times. Like one time in service he actually stopped out in the open (it was a quiet street and it had alot of trees along the way) and we killed about 5 minutes soaking in the surroundings . Mind you, I had to put up with the wonders of its "design" etc. Wished there was some bloody nature to see, like some dog on cat action but there were just cute squirrels.

  Of course, he was also a prick hard-nose. Like when I was a MS and the first night he came of his visit to our congregation, he stood at the door greeting everyone as they came in. Seemed nice....I'm sure the regular pubs thought so, as did I.

  Then at the servants and elders meeting he was rhyming off numbers about what times we were coming into the hall and how the body and servants were very late. We should be there around 20 minutes before as good examples yadda, yadda. I came in about 4 minutes before the meeting was to start.

  Not quite...can't exactly remember my age, if I was 12-14 or so, but I was in the public library and in an encyclopedia found the fall of Jerusalennm to be given as 586/7 BC. Each of the three different encyclopedias I then checked had the same thing. I photocopied a page from one of them. Eerily, shortly after that, in the school library I found some rather interesting stuff about the JWs (written by a priest whose name I can't remember ...I went to Catholic School) and it also mentioned how they fudged all kinds of dates.

  So I sent in a rather bogus letter to the WT saying I'd like just the GB to read it, and how I as a young person was confused about the discrepancy in the 607 vs 586/7 date and if they were aware of what other respected sources were saying. Never put my actual name to it though.

  Neither DA'ed or DF'ed and officially I'd say I'm considered inactive. I've tried swithcing some congregations to make it easier to fade but my fanatical dub father always manages to sick the elders on me to "encourage" me. So I'm stuck going to the Memorials and a meeting or two...like when the CO visits. I never attend all the assemblies though, thankfully.

  Only reason I don't tell the WT to kiss my @$$ is because all my immediate family are dubs.

  I see alot of verses being quoted arguing for Jesus being divine and the perfect reflection of God but I haven't been as convinced about the "Holy Spirit" being the 3rd person of the Trinity.

  What verse(s) tells us that the Holy Spirit is the perfect image or reflection of God, or that it has the entire fullness of the pleroma in it?

  What verse(s) tells us that it is God (by its nature say) and not simply some sort of emanation bestowed to empower/aid believers?

  What verse(s) explicity limits the Godhead to just 3 persons? Why are not all believers also a part of this as the Gospel of John speaks of beleivers, Jesus and followers being one?

  Tough to say with the current strain H1N1. From what I've seen with all the number crunching, the percentage of infected people who die from it appears to be lower than those who die from the usual flu. So if you're concerned about another repeat of the SARS scare, just make those numbers known as well and people should be less worried.
