  did you have narrow minded turds as elders/overseers in your congregation?

  yup so did i...they're everwhere.. "there was this one time..at band camp"....it was in a hired hall actually...where we used to organise congregation functions like farewells etc.

  this usually consisted of food...non alcoholic beverages...and some entertainment...usually square dancing and some skits...and a presentation or speech.. at one function a particular elder was offended that the 'gay gordon' was one of the dances for the evening...so he promptly left...yup...at the next function it was renamed the 'happy gordon'...as his conscience wouldn't allow him to attend otherwise.

  Hey Ozzie...what about the Salvos...heaven forbid if you were ever caught walking into babylon the greatest's second hand mart lol.

  Kep...yeah those married couple only dancers...*retch* as Xander would say...speaking of congregation orchestras...I knew a young brother (approx 18 yrs old) who used to play the piano at the Kingdom Hall...and he stumbled some individuals because he jazzed up the kingdom melodies...they thought it not the time or the place for him to be playing with a bit of a 'tading ding' at the end of the song LOL.

  Xander...the 'Stumbling In' patrol exists...they usually consist of new ones seeking a perfect world here on earth...elders wives (i can see them now with hand on hips, finger shaking)...people who don't have enough to do except scrutinise other people's choices...and people who are doing more in service then u are...usually they are walking from door to door talking about other people in the congregation!!

  refiners fire..yup I would call them turds...in fact I would call them the finest grade...still warm in fact! I was one of the first to experience the shunning before you get baptised...ohhhh yes...they used to do this. I was NEVER a publisher as a kid...I left (thrown out of) home and moved in with my boyfriend. We were 'disassociated'... he was also raised in the truth. Apparently they used to disassociate ones growing up in the truth if they didnt become witnesses...and we were shunned and treated as though we had been baptised. How about that!! Only 16 yrs old...kicked out of home..forced to move in with my boyfriend...forced to get married so that my family would love me again...it sux! Some years later new light dissolved the disassociation before baptism practice...TURDS!

  TheStar..I agree...I feel that most of us are on this forum or have left the borg because we have been discouraged so many times...for such petty things. And the twist was one of many songs that zealots would make a big deal about. Rock n roll was another one...and the worst case of all was when a sister asked us to insist that if anyone was to participate in a dance that they be asked "NOT" to shake their hips....especially the sisters...unbelievable!!

  Me too Kheli....I also got both my girls ears pierced when they turned one....that stumbled a sister who thought I should have waited until they were teens. What about weetbix...sanitarium is owned by SDA...we were supporting babylon the great...UNLESS...we changed over to vitawheats! Pathetic!

  jesussaves...lmao...what a crack up...little house on the prairie prints...how cruel were your parents??? not that i can talk...I was still wearing bobby sox and sandles at 15 lol...and daisy dukes....didn't "our" girl Kylie bring those shorts back into fashion Ozzie?? Fashion always stumbles old fuddie duddies.

  After our meetings...we weren't even allowed to listen to the radio on our way home..we had to reflect on the talks blah blah...not when I was a kid either...this was when I was a grown up lol.

  i know around here you could have broken into any jw's home on a sunday morning using it.. outaservice (who changed his code to 1975!

  Whats the dumbest thing you were counselled for?

  i was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.

  if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.

  one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

  I once stumbled a sister when I said 'I'm stuffed' out on field service...is 'stuffed' a swear word now? Should've just told her to 'stuff off'.

  im a liceinced electrician now working in wireless communication installations.i love the electrical industry,there is so much to learn and so many different things do work with and technology is always changing.never a boaring day especially when we are working in the office buildings downtown,chicks everywhere!.

  Personal Assistant for a fat cat...my boss is a lawyer and I do everything but trim his eyebrows. Not all that exciting but I get plenty of time to 'visit' with you all in between typing letters and sending documents to other fat cats about really interesting stuff!!

  I'm unappreciated (true)...overworked (not true)...underpaid (true)...and looking for a new job (true)!

Another time...one sister thought there was too much food...and so she complained to the organising party and accused everyone of gluttony! This was all true folks. And another occassion...due to the sensitive nature of some members of the 'flock'...the 'rock n roll' was renamed the 6 step!

  The music selection also got a fine tuning...opting for instrumental tunes as the lyrics were offensive...you know....ones like the locomotion by Kylie Minogue...too suggestive!! PALEASE!!!

  What's your worst case of someone being stumbled??

  Dad & Pink Floyd

  my dad is in his early fifties.

  he has always been a lover of music.

  last year he gave me his guitar, the one i remember him always playing when he was home, except of course during dinner hehe.

  Hey peaceloveharmony...loved your story...and your dad sounds so groovy.

  I have a brother who was mad on Pink Floyd...it always reminds me of him...he used to use the name "Floyd"; as a handle...or was it he named his guitar Floyd...I can't remember. But as a teenager that's all he used to play...bless his cotton little sox lol...that's when he wasn't practicing to play in the orchestra at the kingdom hall. I don't think they have orchestras anymore...the simplified arrangement took over..CD players.

  hmmm....I thought he almost married Kim Basinger...and they used to make out in grave yards. I guess we (the general public) perceived him the way his contract manager and promotion people wanted us to...the peculiar little girl faced man with a skinny arse who had a fetish for death and spiritism.

  He is probably an intravert...quiet spoken...shy...easily overwhelmed and easy to dominate....the perfect bible student!
