hi all, just wondering if anyone else like me had to give evidence in judical cases involving their family members and how they got over the guilt when they realised what they had done?

I was not involved in anyone else's judicial...but I do have guilt about a few other things...probably not really in line with your question.
But when my brother was DF...I regret how I treated him...I was an active JW at the time...and every now and then I get the guilts when I think about how righteous I thought I was. When I first left the borg...my JW family members shunned me...all except him. I am lucky that he is so forgiving.

i showed my wife this information and she was shocked to find out there is a pyramid with a cross on it at russells grave.
she printed all information and went to ask her jw dad about it.

New light vrs old light...I actually think there are a combination of reasons why new light replaces the old light.
1. New blood on the GB, hence new ideas, new generation, new minds
2. Too many court cases and there has to be some adjustments made on their teachings to avoid such catastrophies
3. GB recognising patterns that occur in congregations and to rectify it may mean 'new light'
4. New light statement is acceptable as there is no one to blame...better than an apology

when you think of all those suffering today and throughout the generations, and all this happened just because two inexperienced people went up against a powerful spirit creature and lost.!.
now, if someone is in jail, lets say for something like stealing, someone can perhaps pay for their release on bail.
I also wonder then...since the consequences of eating from that tree provided them with the privilege of knowing 'good and bad' (ie. a conscience) will this ability be retracted in the new system?? Is this not a step 'backwards'?

my jw mother used to peel the cross off the hot cross buns at easter time...she said it was her way of compromising...so that we werent partaking of anything pagan.

Goodness...I forgot all about this thread...came back to it this morning to have a few laughs and 'goodnessgracious great balls of fire'...lol.
safe4kids....hot cross buns are only at easter time and they are basically a cinnimon fruit bun with a cross on the top. Icing used to be used for the cross....but over the years the cross has become rather flavourless and bland. There is enough sweetness in the fruit to make up for it. I remember very well what the cross tasted like because my brother and I would fight for it when my mother would peel it off lol...so we used to peel only part of the cross off and leave a straight line...how silly were we.

I always used to see an injustice in that...when you say 2 inexperienced people...I have to agree. I have worked for the Justice Department and have been involved with penalties for crime etc...and I used to wonder to myself...how would it be if the judge told a convicted murderer that he was going to sentence the accused to death "together" with his seed for generations to come? It would never happen...the justice system is designed to admonish punishment on the 'guilty' party only...yet God is 'Justice'.
I also used to ponder over the warning A & E were given prior to their disobedience. Were they as fatherless and motherless individuals able to comprehend the impact of their disobedient act? Despite the fact that they were perfect...they were as you say 'inexperienced'...how could they know that their children's children would be affected to such a large degree? Eve had never suckled a child at her breast...and she had never known the bonding and overwhelming joy that comes with motherhood...do you think she would have thought twice before her random act of recklessness if she had experienced the nurturing joy common to all/most mothers? I just think that when you have kids...you feel that you have more to live for...and so you try harder to preserve yourself for their sake, if that makes any sense.

which can only be eaten in ten years time.. so i make my prediction first.. 1.the society will have had a major doctrine change as to 1914 and 144,000.. 2.most will leave the org due to disillusionment.. 3.there will be a breakaway group of more fanatical witness they will be the orthodox witnesses.. there will also be a group of the liberal witnesses but will not last as long while the other group will grow.. do i win the cake?

I think in reality there is a decline happening now...but statistics are being falsly reported. I know that the congregation I used to associate with has already started to reduce in size...and a lot of the teenagers who should have become the next ministerial servants or regular pioneers are slowly dropping away.
Financially I can see the borg capable of sustaining its existence...however the numbers that make up the congregations will be on the decrease regardless.
When I think back to when my grandmother first learnt and accepted the teachings all those years ago...it was a different message she was taught...and it was a different generation. She was told she would never grow old and die and that she would see her dear loved ones in the resurrection. This was post WWII era and she was recovering from the loss of a lot of loved ones.
Today...the message to entice bible students is very different...and the new light has replaced a lot of the old 'hopes' that once dominated the congregations. There are a lot of disillusioned ones...but they stay in the borg for the sake of family or because of resistence to change.
Just my thoughts.

That's the first time i've heard of that being done in school...and i'm so glad it wasnt done at my school. What a double bummer...being a JW kid AND doing the days text at school...can't imagine anything worse!!!

What was your understanding of easter eggs and hot cross buns at easter time? My mother felt that if she didn't peel the cross off..then we as kids wouldn't learn to keep away from pagan traditions....however...her conscience felt no pangs of guilt to buy and consume easter eggs...her opinion was that they were just chocolate eggs. When I would say 'but aren't hot cross buns just fruit buns?' she would ignore me.
What did you all have to endure as kids at easter time??

Frustrating isn't it? Your mother will have her moments...she will be staunch one day and slack the next...its the JDub way. The hypocrisy is the reason I left.
You might want to suggest to your mum that she reads the book instead...so long as she keeps it to herself...no one will be stumbled.
