I've been through 3 and an appeal. I was only reproved for 2 of them and DF'd the other and it was upheld on the appeal. I can't say too much about the 2 that I was reproved for except that I gave them what they were looking for. When I was DF'd the secretary had a learning disability and so when it came to the appeal, the majority of the notes were very inaccurate but noone else seemed to care. The notes made things look much worse than it actually was. I really didn't either but I just didn't want it to happen for my family.

Old People Ask
by ballistic inok, i was reading the awake article thread, and i thought, we have "yound people ask" but no "old people ask" so what about some article titles for the old?.
old people ask: "why has the new system been *just around the corner* for over 100 years?".
old people ask: "why didn't i save for my retirement?".

Do you struggle to find truth in anything religious these days?
by Samdownunder ini was just interested to see how you feel out there.
ive been thinking a lot about all the lies and wasted time and frustration ive went through for so long now, and i cant help but wonder if anything i ever believed in is real.
obviously the watchtower has lied and conned us all for years now, but who else along the way has changed the bible and who were the men who compiled it, and their motives?

My response to that is no. The WT has ruined any desire to search. They're the pot that calls the kettle black. All their training teachs that all other religions are based on lies. I don't know if others feel the same way as I do, but being raised a JW, and having that drilled into your head year after year after year, day after day after day, for your whole life it really ruins the search because you go into the search with immediate scepticism instead of an open mind, which is needed for the search.

I was there for my first public reproving, there for my DFing, missed my reinstatement for the Stanley Cup playoffs, and was there for my second public reproving all in that order. Thinking back, I wish I had made a scene. Maybe I'll have to formally DA myself so I can. Any ideas on what a good scene would consist of? Something original. Give me some time!

To get a break from my JW parents when I was 17 (I'm 25 now) I took an apartment of my own. I was working full time and going to school. A busy schedule that allowed me to miss meetings without them constantly hounding me. I was on my own though which was the most important thing to me, or so I thought. On Christmas eve I had several of my friends over including one who was DF'ed. As the evening went on most went home and at 2am there was about 4 people over, including the DF'ed person. Then there was a knock on the door two local elders on a sheparding call. Yes at 2am. They had noticed the DF'ed person's car on the road outside my house and thought they'd drop in and question me about it. The DF'ed person was in the washroom at the time so they didn't see him, but interrogated myself and my 2 other friends about it for half an hour. Finally they left! So we waited another half hour and thought they were gone for good and I decided to leave my home with these friends of mine and go to another's house in the DF'ed person's car. We're driving along a lightly snow covered road when the driver says, "Someone is behind us." I turn around to recognize the car as one of the elder's cars, FOLLOWING US! The driver kicks on the gas we accelerate, the snow causes the car to slide, right into a telephone pole. The elders pull up along side us and say, "Care to change you story now?" They cought me, I hope they got what they were looking for! I was only reproved at that time (My first time). My disfellowshipping came months later which is a story in itself as my apartment at the time was illegally entered and searched for evidence against me. I'll tell that one another time!

Why so many handshakes?
by JH inthe first thing that struck me when i entered a kh for the first time, was the staggering numbers of handshakes being given here and there.
it was as if they didn't see each other since months or years.
in fact they were together just a few hours earlier in the service.

I refused to shake an elder's son's hand at a meeting and the son made sure that his father found out about it. I explained to the elder when he aproached me that it was because the last time I met with his son, his son talked at great length about his doctor's instruction to masturbate. The elder understood. YUCK!

favourite games to play as a child during boring meetings
by Surfacing inmy parents were both very strict, and i wasn't allowed any toys at the hall.
my rations included a copy of my book of bible stories, and a pen and note pad.
my parents were strict to the point of not allowing me to draw pictures, i had to "take notes".

I was not permitted any toys either as they distracted people who REALLY REALLY wanted to listen. My Dad wanted me to do the tick thing too for every time I heard Jehovah and Jesus and HE kept track too just to make sure that I really was listening. Thinking back, I had a rough childhood!

Hello. Just a new face in the crowd. My uncle encouraged me to join as he has been a member for a couple of years. I left fold after a year after reading an article in a local weekly magazine (it was actually front page story). I have always refused to be a lemming! It got me doing my own research and since then I have been enlightened. I read several books (Penton, Franz, Jonsson) that really got me thinking about everything that had been thrown at me for the last 25 years of my life and how I've been decieved along with my family. My wife is still in and refuses to talk to me about my reasons for leaving, she doesn't want to listen, but hopefully with time she'll come around and start talking. I hope to meet people in similar situations and read their stories to get through this. I can't get online all the time since my wife gets very upset from me looking online for this info so I won't be on all the time but I'll be somewhat regular. I have some interesting stories to tell about 2am visits from the elders as well as them searching my apartment for evidence to DF me (my parents with a key let them in) when I was 18. I have had a sour taste in my mouth since then but only got the courage and the evidence to leave now. First I have to learn the fine art of posting on this. I'll see if this works and another day try again! Talk to you all later on!
