I knew I could from my teens when I was disfellowshipped. But, I was still mentally enslaved. Knowing that you can and mentally being able to do so are two different things altogether though. It wasn't until I was mentally able to do so that I could.

Of course, there's always those damn emotional responces that get in your way, but I think that's what keeps a lot of people in. They have to put their emotions aside when they go through the logic of what they're doing.

Don't let the stuff get to you? Easier said then done but something to try.

What do I do with all this WT literature?

we have tons of bound volumes, bound kms and many books.

i only plan on keeping a few of the older books with the really insane, humiliating crap, like sewing machines being a sign of the last days.

what should i do with the rest?

Family Guy mention of Jehovah's Witnesses

did anyone see the family guy episode this week that had peter singing the praises of being rich.. .

one line in the song was you can stop the "jehoovahs at the gate" , they showed a witness being stopped at the gate while getting smacked in the head with a watchtower.. .

i love this show, especially stewie..

Watchtower teaches how to fade

when i stopped going to meetings, i faded away slowly.

we always tend to think that we are the ones who faded away and that the jw's in general wanted us to stay.. but if you think about it, the elders, ms, and every good jw who still attend meetings, are also the ones fading.

the only difference is that they are fading the people who left.

Its funny when you show up after a long period of not and everyone tells you how much they missed you. You missed me? A two minute phone call to say so and let me know would have been nice, instead of this convienient reminder of me standing right here in front of you.

Maybe there's hope for some dubs afterall...

i heard of an interesting sheparding call where two elders stopped by a brothers house (on a saturday morning...hmmm, i wonder, did they stop counting their time...but i digress)...anyhoo, they came to this brothers house to "encourage" him.

it seems he had been missing a lot of meetings and his service time was way down.

now, knowing that this brother's wife suffered from depression and that there was some marital strife, they still sought to "encourage" him by putting pressure on him to "do more", as if this would solve all his problems.. i know the two elders and before everyone gets a bad picture of them, they're actually okay guys...its just that they're unqualified to act as marriage counselors or to give advice in the mental health field.
