reading 'the god delusion', dawkins says on page 258:.
hartung draws attention to the two verses in revelation where the number of those 'sealed' (which some sects such as the jehovah's witnesses, interpret to mean 'saved') is limited to 144,000.. i would not myself used the word 'saved', i'm not sure exactly sure what word i would have used because i don't think the jw's beliefs regarding the 144,000 can be summed up with one word.

i'm thinking about joining the aaa auto club.
my car is getting along in years and isn't going to get replaced any time soon.
i'm imagining that my stranded-on-the-side-of-the-road moment is imminent.
We have had it for the last year (well the Canadian version CAA) and I would say it is definately worth it. From the time we were at the drive-in movie and the battery died so the car wouldn't start at 2am, to my wife getting a flat tire less then half a block from work and them putting the spare one on while she was working, to the car running out of gas when the fuel gage quit working (on the highway at rush hour) ... it definately brings peace of mind when you need it. We just got the renewal in the mail and we'll be renewing for sure!

There are many theories as to how the universe got here, but there's no way of knowing exactly how for sure, yet just theories. As time goes on and it is researched more people will find out how and I'm sure that it will be discovered and an answer will be given that is much simpler then most people would expect.
But, agreeing with Terry, what difference does it make? It doesn't effect the fact that life goes on. Tomorrow we'll wake up, go to work, eat and go back to sleep again at the end of the day. This all has to be done regardless of HOW the universe came to be.
I would say though how life came about is a lot easier to understand then how the universe came to be.

i posted about the movie back in september here.. well, i just found out that they have decided to shut the camp down for at least a few years due to the movie.
i guess god wasn't as happy with their camp as they thought.

i've heard many times that there are some congo's in the us where you can have a neatly trimmed beard and it's perfectly ok. i have never been allowed and havn't known of anyone who could.

The real question is why SHOULD you have a beard? 1000 word essay due one hour from now. GO!
As for the reason why not ... because one day one guy was out in service with a big bushy beard, and that guy called on this door and someone said to the bearded one, "I don't want no part of no Hippy movement." and slammed the door. Now the bearded guy has to live with that someone's soul on his conscience his whole life because he could have accepted Jehovah into his life that day but the beard the bearded guy wore scared him off. True story. The Watch Tower told me. Don't believe me? Look it up, it's on the WT Library.
