...really made a huge impact on you?
one thing that gutted me as a jw was the realisation that they (the gb) had written the articles telling us how humble they were, that they were the "ruth class" or simply put "best class" etc, all the good people in the bible represented them, how humble is that?
it suddenly dawned on me after years of not realising it, how arrogant my leaders were.
What got me was how the GB made thier decisions on policy changes.
Very much like a corporation/union/stockholder meeting, where by-law change needs 2/3 majority vote and so on.
I had always thought that the GB would have been unanimous in their decisions, since they were all being "directed" by the same God. Does God make his decisions on a 2/3 majority vote?
The power struggles that he mentioned also struck me as odd and not the least bit humble as these men had always been protrayed.

imo, jw's go door-to-door for two reasons.. 1. that's what you have to do to gain salvation as per wts (selfish).
2. to genuinely help others (unselfish).
so, for those who did it for reason 2, upon leaving the wts, what have you done to replace preaching to assist your fellow man/woman?

Mrs. Kwin and I have been discussing this recently, and have a few thoughts on what we may do, but we're still open to ideas.

3 of us ex-mind/social control victims met yesterday for breakfast in the chicago area and discussed the subject of culpability within the wt org.
where do you think the responsibility lies.
is everyone on the congregational level guilty because at one time or another we all had doubts that we compartmentalized?
They not only know how to play the game, they make the rules.
rule 1: They rules may change at any given time without prior notice.

did you understand all the questions and answers to all those questions that you were asked?
?
I was 12. Would any 12 yr old understand them, or what they were getting themselves into?

You know mj, that's something I've often pondered myself. Who's fault is it all?
Here's other questions that I had and ones that kept my wife in the org. for so long and I'm sure other JW's questioning the real truths about the WTS asks.
"Why would the GB cover up their mistakes? What purpose would it serve since they are humble humans? What is in it for them?"
There's the obvious travel perks, but other then that what does the GB get for the WTS massive aquisitions?
Don't they live in similar quarters as other bethel servents? Do they have WTS cars? Do they get WTS AMEX cards to spend on lavish dinners with other coroprate execs?

hi everyone, it has been awhile since i have visited and i just wanted to share a few thoughts with you today on the topic of confession of sin.
for those who have never attended a church, i will explain the view of 'christendom" on the matter.
church for most christian denominations is a place of healing and recharging of the spirit.
Boy am I glad that is over!
Me too!
Confession to humans is not manditory. It is an option for those who feel that perhaps God has left them because of their sin to recieve encouragement. The WTS has turned it into something maditory. If you don't confess your sins to the elders, your sins will not be forgiven.
OK, that's the way they do things, but where's the follow-up? Where's the continued support? Where's the help that the person may need to get through the day?
That's why someone should talk to someone else about a problem. Not to gain "forgiveness" through the human, but to help get through the problem, to carry on, for assurance that God is OK with things.
The JW's are lacking in this.
