  it's quite rare (or even non-existant) that we get to read the feelings and experiences of a faithful jw who is still in, and has not been influenced by apostate literature.

  however, i have in my posession a journal written by a jw; a single woman in her 20s named kim.

  i came into posession of her journal back in the mid-90s when i was still in myself.

  That is the picture from page 7 of the "How Can Blood Save Your Life" brochure - it was done in 1883 by an artist named Gerome... not a Watchtower Society artist. However, they did decide to use it in their brochure.... The subtitle beside the picture says "Whatever the consequences, the early Christians refused to violate God's law on blood".

  Bethel layoffs in 2008 - 300+ and counting

  from the mouth of one of the special pioneers assigned tour congregation:.

  at least 300 have been terminated from the us bethel branch in the first month of 2008, and she expects the number to increase.

  I haven't read the whole thread so I'm sorry if someone mentioned this, but isn't this just another way of putting the cost of the JW onto the average publisher? Really, why would the WT pay to have someone they don't need at bethel when they know if they gave them the title of "Special Pioneer" that they'll go into a congregation and the congregation will pay all (or most) of their expenses (food especially) on top of their regular donation to the WTS. I know when our cong. had a special pioneer they took turns providing her meals for the day.

  any canuck hockey fans out there disappointed at the all-star festivities?.

  gimmicks, "slam-dunk" type breakaway competition, ne-yo performance with marching band, etc... .

  Our game has been pimped out since Gary Bettman took control of the League. He knew that the league couldn't support itself if it didn't appeal to the American public, so it had to change and evolve from what it was, into what it is becomming.

  At least a Canadian won All Star game MVP. Those Staal brothers are something else. Modern day Sutters.

  Raising children without a religion - thoughts, advice?

  almost ready to take the plunge, but have held back for years because of topic.

  husband and i have not been active for many years and no longer consider ourselves jw's.

  we also have no desire to be part of an organized religion.

  I brought up the topic of "Parenting beyond belief" here

  I thought it was a good book, all in all. I bought it the day it came out and read it immediately. It goes into almost every aspect of raising a child without religion and many times give two or three perspectives on a subject.

  I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions about it before you buy it, let me know (via PM).
